Just bought a Glock 23 FDE...
Decided to go with a Gen 4 Glock 23 in FDE with a test fire date of 9/19/12. It was the last one available at my LGS but it also came with a hefty price tag ($600 )...hopefully I didn't over pay too much lol. Haven't had a chance to take it to the range but hopefully it shoots as good as it looks! Anybody hear of any issues with the newer gen 4 glock 23's? Thanks guys!

The main problem I am aware of is a magazine problem, http://www.glocktalk.com/forums/show....php?t=1399097
All that is needed is to modify magazines according to Voyagers instructions or magazines not affected.
Supposedly Glock has remedied the problem,I just haven't come across and of the newer supply as of yet. Just be aware of them and Congrats. SJ 40

Looks nice! I had the option several months ago to get an FDE Gen4 G23 or the regular black, and the FDE was actually less expensive for some reason. I chose black, but it was a tough choice. Oh yea, my Gen4 G23 has been flawless! Your G23 looks great!

Thanks for the compliments guys. I shot 200 rounds through her last night and the only issues I encountered were 2 FTF's using my G22 w/ +2 extension (pictured above). I'm 100% positive that the magazine caused the FTF b/c I had zero issues through about 150 rounds using the magazine that came with the gun. No BTF, FTF, or FTE. Given that the RSA hasn't been "broken in," the frame might have been moving faster than the G22 mag could feed.
In any case, I'm very happy with my purchase and I hope that none of the, "FTF showing up after X number of rounds" issues show up. Hopefully Glock finally has their ish together with the Gen4's!

Did you have the Streamlight attached while using the G22 magazines?

^ Yup, I like to shoot with it on since this is my HD set up.
However, I never encountered any problems shooting with the extended mags and streamlight attached to my Gen 3 Glock 22 (which I sold yesterday for only $400 with the LWD 40-9 conversion barrel :().

I don't know why it would have worked on your older Gen 3 and not a Gen 4 but if you remove the light I think you will find the 15rd mags with the +2 extension will work. The older magazines were found to have too short of a spring to work with a light. Add the extension and it's really too short. Are the G22 mags newer ambi cuts? I can not use my older mags, about 1 out 8 rds will FTF with my light on both my 40's. That extra coil added to the new mags probably isnt enough with extensions. Also make sure your light isn't too tight.

Yes, it's a relatively new magazine with the ambi cuts (purchased around 2 months ago). I'm assuming that the gen 3 has a lighter RSA and since the gen 4 the RSA is stronger, maybe the slide and timing of when the magazine feeds the new round is causing some problems? I'm kind of a gun noob but this is what makes most sense to me...
I'm going to try and see if I get any FTF's when I run the the +2 on the G23 magazines with the streamlight attached. Also, I polished up the feed ramp since that's where it looked like the round was getting caught up in, so I'll let y'all know the results later tonight..

Since they are new magazines the light may be too tight. It should only be as tight as one could get it with a paper clip. Is there a 1 or a 2 on the back of the magazines like mentioned in one of the links above?

^ Thanks for the compliments guys.
Went to the range yesterday and shot 250 rounds (200 Federal 180 gr. and 50 Independence 165 gr.) The gun performed well except I'm not sure if I had a couple FTFs or if it was just my off hand hitting the slide stop during recoil. I'm coming from a G22 and the G23 is smaller so I think I just need to get used to shooting with a smaller pistol.
Also, I had one BTF (hit the top of my dome) out of the 250 rounds. I'm not too worried about that issue, however, it was a little disappointing to have that happen since I have had NONE ever hit me with my Gen 3 G22 (produced around 2003). I didn't think the Gen 4 .40 S&W had that issue (a big reason why I didn't go the G17/19 route) but there is no model glock that haven't been issue free...

Well did you fix the tactical light w/G22 mag issue? I'm really curious since I'm a G23 gen4/ TLR-1/ mulltiple mag owner.

There are BTF issues with the 23 & some 22's.
Apex is developing one of there Glock extractors
for the .40.
The results with the 9mm parts is excellent.
Check your extractor tension, a White Sound HRED
can help this if not fix it depending on your particular
gun. They're all different with BTF.

All of my mags have a 2 with the #9 followers. Only issue I saw yesterday was the BTF and a couple times I hit the slide stop while shooting. Have you experienced problems with your combo?
clarkz71 - Thanks for the tip on the WS HRED..I'll def. check that out if I'm consistently getting more BTF. Right now, I'm going to to stick with the stock set up and see how it goes. I really didn't want to believe all of the issues that have surfaced on GT, but I'm kind of in shock that these problems seem to be so widespread...

You may want to check your magazines for nubs, see this
http://www.glocktalk.com/forums/show....php?t=1399097
,post # 5 by Voyager shows the problem and how to fix it.
Supposedly Glock has remedied it but I haven't come across any of those magazines as of yet, just the bad ones. SJ 40

Only with a tac light I have experienced a few FTF with non ambi magazines on a G22 Gen3. I have not experienced trouble with newer magazines. I have not tried the older magazines on my G23 w/ light. I really haven't planned on using the light on the 23 so I haven't found a need to test it.
