I love poison oak!
Not really... momma asked me to drop a bunch of trees to clear a view and create a fire break (now is the time to do it, while everything is wet and green) so I fire up my trusty Stihl and get going. Dropped 17 Oaks into a neat pile... well 4 of them went the other way, but... anyhow!
What I didn't realize until I was almost finished, is that I was in the middle of a dormant patch of poison oak! So I have it on my face, neck and of course my arms! Miserable... I did take a Tecnu bath but apparently I will have to take another one when I get home tonight.

I got into it over the summer. First outbreak was bad, a week of steroids. The recurrence was worse. Took a couple shots and a three week steroid pack. Best advise I can give, go get a steroid pack. The oak swelled me up bad. I looked like a giant chipmunt my cheeks were so swollen.

Cursed weed. Any exposure for me (oak, ivy or sumac) means a trip to the doctor for steroids. When I get infected, I get it really bad.
My sympathies, sir.

I feel for you. I got it so bad one summer it lasted 4 months. Poison Ivy and Sumac gives me no trouble. Poison Oak makes me miserable. Treat it early.

Make sure you wash those clothes and wipe off the chain saw, and anything else you even think came in contact with it. You can get re-infected just by touching any of the things that came in contact with it. I speak from itchy experience(s).

It'd give you a perfectly legitimate excuse to partake in what is known as the golden shower activity.

I had this foul trip april 2012 when I was cutting dead Pine. Poison Ivy. The truly crappy part was, I had long sleeves on and didn't get exposed until I was done and took off my coat. I folded the contaminated Carhartt over my arms...

Uhm. I do know that it won't keep you from getting it if you are answering the call and when you get it there.....never mind, I don't want to remember anymore.

I'm not allergic. We don't have it much out here in the west, but growing up in VA and GA, I'd always pick a big bouquet for the teacher when we went out on fieldtrips!!

I had a neighbor in GA many years ago, that burned a big pile of weeds and leaves in his back yard... it contained poison ivy... he and his wife ended up in the hospital for a few days because he inhaled some smoke and apparently the poison ivy got into his lungs... a scary little weed!

http://www.zanfel.com/help/
I got on a vine hugging a tree using my treestand. It was the worst I've ever had. I found Zanfel too late to really help, and had to to go to the doc and get a shot and dose pack. The inside of my right arm looked like a leper and after running wonderfully HOT water over it, you could see the body fluids run. The vine is much stronger, and it got in my system. I had rash popping up in areas that weren't contacted with the vine.
Nearly 3 months later, and there is still a red patch on my arm.

I just got some last week during the final yard cleanup. I remember the tree trimmer telling me he eats some before every season and he hasn't had it since.

Many years ago when in my early teens I got into a bunch of poison ivy and went through some miserable days. One eye was swollen completely shut for awhile and the other was almost shut.
Some time after that our mother started my sister and I on some pills for several months. These were supposed to make us immune and as far as I can tell they worked for me. On several occasions I have been around the stuff and some people with me got infected but I never did. Don't know if they still sell such things or not.

Up until about 3-4 years ago I never had an issue with it. Then one camping trip... BAM! And it's been getting worse ever since.

Uh... yeah, I have heard of people doing this but I have this great affinity for not choking to death and having to do a self tracheotomy.
