Need Quick Input On SD Ammo: 9 mm & .45 ACP
Hi, all!
It has been awhile since I've made a study of ammo, and made a big purchase, which I have pending now...
In 2007 I paid $5.99 and $9.99 for fifty rounds each of 9 mm and .45 ACP practice ammo, respectively, and brought in several thousand rounds of both... I also ordered several hundred rounds of Double Tap in 9 mm, 10 mm, and .45 ACP self-defense ammo...
Having adjusted to the sticker shock, I'm putting together another big order, and I've found 9 mm for $9.99 and .45 ACP for $16.99... If you know of a better buy, I'd sure appreciate a heads up!
I'm also looking to cycle through my supply of Double Tap 9 mm, 10 mm, and .45 ACP ammo, and I know there have been strides made, in particular in 9 mm Self-Defense Ammo(like Federal HST 147 Grain +P 9 mm), and I'd greatly appreciate any input!

In 115gr JHP is offered by Winchester and Federal (9BPLE). Both are excellent - 1400 FPS in my G17.

In 9mm, 124+P Gold Dots. It's easy to find, good price, and is as effective as 9mm can be. If you want cheaper, Federal 9BPLE 115 +P+.

For practice ammo I usually buy TulAmmo in several calibers. If I were you I would buy one box in both calibers you are looking at and see how you like it. I think it's the best priced ammo there is currently available if you don't reload. I keep about 1,000 rounds of TulAmmo for about the top five guns I shoot.
Check them out at "Cheaper than Dirt" and a couple of other places!!

You're not going to get much cheaper than that for 9mm.
For .45, Walmart usually runs around $30/100 for the Federal value pack.

Well, that leaves me a wide choice, as I can pretty much center-core a B27-Q HALF-SIZE target at 30-feet, with two magazines worth of any caliber in a full-size or compact Glock... And that's about as good as my 57-year old diabetic eyes can do without correction. 
I can put them all in center mass at 50-feet, again without wearing glasses, but they won't be all 10's and 9's... 
And I can do this with open sights, sans laser, though I do have lasers for all my Glocks... And while I realize that's nothing fancy, it is at least, competent... 
Attached are pics of my current three Glock pistols... I shoot them all about equally well, using all manner of ammo. And most importantly, I have fun doing it! 
Still, at over a dollar a cartridge, my days of shooting Double Tap's 10 mm 135 grain Noslers are coming to an end!

I love that green frame Glock. What caliber and model is it?
And before you buy any ammo in bulk consider buying a box of 4-5 different premium JHP self-defense ammos and test it in your pistols for reliability and accuracy. People can suggest good options but it's ultimately you who makes the choice of the best for your firearms.
