This week I met a lady that wants to get a M1 Garand for her husband for Christmas.
I put her on to the CMP and today I showed her my last CMP M1.
She printed out the paperwork.

The question is, has anyone bought a service grade lately and how long did it take to get it? Condition?

I told her I doubt she will receive the rifle before Christmas.

Latest email from them I believe said they are a couple months behind due to "unprecendented order volume", due to the election no doubt.

M2 I wouldn't count on before Christmas. Last I heard they were backed up from ammo sales, bayonet sales, and Garand orders.

Yeah, I was pretty sure she wasn't going to get the gun before Christmas.

Too bad I didn't know the lady a couple months ago to tell her about CMP.

I got one late July beginning of August I know thats not super lately but its 3-4 months. Took about 3 weeks 3.5 probably it was a HRA(on purpose because at the time from the CMP forums they said that almost everyone getting them was very happy at the condition). Either have her or go check out the CMP forums for her they always have a timeline/timeframe of order to delivery thread going that says when they ordered and got their gun..mine was about right on came maybe 3 days later than others that ordered the same time...Make sure she meets all the criteria though B4 she orders

The last order I had was less than a month, but since that this is Christmas season...I'm sure that the CMP is swamped.

Now another good way to get one BEFORE that time is go to the CMP forums and you will always have people buying and selling them on there...I came close to getting one like that as a guy had one very similar to what I wanted...he was about $100 higher than CMP though and I tried to get him down a bit(as he was just selling a regular old CMP service model but trying to turn $100 profit on it it was nothing special though) I said how about split it 1/2 way and I will give you $650 instead of $700 he just didnt want to come down any so I took mt shot with CMP.. One nice thing VS a blind CMP purchase is they normally have a good description and pictures of what your getting instead of the CMP "blind" pick in which you dont know what your getting till you get it...that was the plus of getting it from a CMP forum member.

About the only way for her to get one before Christmas would be to make a trip to Anniston and pick one from the south store
