GlockTalk is UN-Useable on anything other than a Computer...
Hey all.
For the past few weeks I have been without my laptop while I make repairs and wait for parts. I have had to rely on my original Kindle Fire and my IPhone 3G to access the Internet and GT.
Unfortunately I have found that trying to use GT on anythink other than my laptop is basically just a hair away from MADDENING!
It's better on the iPhone, but that's not saying a lot. On my Fire, even after turning off java it was not working at all or just barely and if you tried to navigate around or start and/or reply to an existing thread, good luck cause I couldn't make it work no matter how many times I tried.
On the phone, which is what I'm on now, it is so slow in doing EVERYTHING that its just too irritating to even bother with it.
I tried my sisters iPhone 4 and got the same results. I also tried it on a couple of newer Android phones and didn't see any improvement. I don't know about other tablets.
Even on my laptop I started seeing nagging issues popping up here and there. Right now I can't wait till next Wednesday or so when the last of my parts come in. I'll happily deal with the nagging issues on the laptop to never have to access GT on anything else.
I can't be the only one. What caused this to become the norm? I am NOT going to pay $10 two times or even one time to install Tap-a-talk on my devices to be able to just browse GT. That shouldn't be necessary and GT is the only forum I participate in that is this way.
C'mon GlockTalk can we just have the old, simple site back? I'll gladly pay a membership fee and I'd wager a great many of the current members would too.
Just to illustrate how aggravating it is, I am using my phone to post this and right now the time is 1:43 AM and I started this post at 1:12 AM! That makes 31 minutes that I've been working on this post. I promise you I'm not THAT SLOW of a thinker.

Posted from iPhone 5 in less than 5sec.
Not sure what problems you're having.

When my primary internet accesss was a Blackberry Curve, I pretty much took a break from GT, so I feel your pain.
But I don't have a problem at all with my iPhone 4s.
eta: I do miss the simpler set-up, though. But such is progress.

Yup...Tapatalk. I find it frustrating to access it any other way. Bonus: no ads.

If you're using the browser, load times are going to be infuriating. Try using ohub as mentioned.

Install the Ohub-campfire app on your phone man, it's free and its fast. I have a 3G also, no problems posting for me, only drawback is no ads and no classifieds. Not that I care about the ads.

I had stability issues with GT on my Kindle Fire. The browser just doesn't handle the site well at all. I downloaded Tapatalk for Kindle and all is well...and no annoying popups!

I don't complain (because I like it here) but that pop-up Chevy advertisement does not shrink in size as I adjust the zoom on the Galaxy/Android screen. In essence, the ad fills the screen and I get one or two text lines of GT website in the background. I can't wait for my mobile Firefox to get an add-blocker because viewing on the road from the phone is cumbersome at best.

4s with safari isn't bad. 4 with safari was infuriating. All good things must come to an end and a simple GT is no exception.

Been a problem for years here, and you get told to stop complaining about the fancy ads all over the place that slow it down and to use Tapatalk or ohub instead.
Don't even bother suggesting Eric does away with forums NOBODY uses like "The Millennium Club", etc.

sounds like a YOU(or your equipment) problem ive been doing just fine and id say 60+% of my looking and posting here comes from my HP Touchpad(a tablet) and ive also easily used my wifes Nook Color in a pinch also a basic tablet/ereader. The only problem i have is now and then the popup adds i can block on my home PC come up on this(im sending this from my Touchpad) and guess where and when they come up...right in the MIDDLE of the screen covering exactly the reply part where you type...thats VERY annoying but i live with it(and have pledged that i wont buy a Chevy product ever again due solely to their annoying me with that pop up! :-) ) is a pita but happens maybe only 20% of the time so i live with it.
oh tried it on my wifes. Free i phone4 she just got and works fine..a bit small and i dont like using it..but did it work perfectly to type and send this in 20 seconds lol

I love Tapatalk on my Droid X. It lets me access multiple forums in a consistent way. Right now my favorites are GlockTalk, Zombie Squad, Linux Mint and OpenCarry.org At times I add NAXJA, Polaris Forums, etc. I didn't want to admit it at first but it's a great way to take forums mobile.
That said, I don't know why you're having such difficulty as for a year or more I accessed JeepForum with just the browser on my Droid X. It was annoying but it still worked.
