Hi all...
For the glock 21 owners out there, what is your favorite ammo?

Both for practice/plinking and for personal defense?

Also, can +P ammo be used in the G21s?

Two of my favorite .45 rounds are the Federal HST and the Winchester Ranger +p. +P rounds are fine in a Glock. For the range whatever is least expensive works for me.

I shot about any kind of .45 I had on hand and the G21 I had ate it like nobodys business. Shot a lot of PMC and Federal FMJ, Speer gold dot HP's.

yes you can shoot +p rds in a 21,the large frame Glooks were designed around the full power 10mm loads.

I reload and my Glock 21 has never had a factory round fired through it.

It gets a steady diet of 230gr FMJ and 4.5grs of Bullseye, and
230gr LRN with 4.0grs Bullseye.

Cheap practice/range ammo that I also wouldn't hesitate to use for self defense.

Like others, my Glock 21 has shot without fail about every weight and shape of .45 ACP bullet there is. My favorite is my own handloaded 200 grain FMJ round from Montana Gold Bullet but I've recently loaded some Hornady and Montana Gold 185 grain jacketed hollow points that have also given me outstanding results with zero issues.

Since the big G21 will handle about everything, I opted for the least expensive jacketed bullet to reload for target and for IDPA competition. As far as self-defense, I like the Hornady Critical Defense round but the HST are awesome if expensive.

For off the shelf stuff, I lean towards the 230gr. Ranger T-series.

For range time, what ever is cheapest at my local wally world. Usually Tulammo, WWB, or Federal Champion.

For carry, I use 230 grain HST's. I just use standard pressure because I like that I can drill a ragged hole with 3-4 really quick shots. The pattern tends to spread a little when I use +P's.

I just started using remanufactured .45 Ammo from http://www.freedommunitions.com/category-s/1844.htm

$14.49 for a Box of 50. Their remanufactured looks exactly like their new. I talked to the manufacturer and they told me the remanufactured ammo uses the same process as new, same primers, bullets and gunpowder, the same machines and process, the only difference is used shells. I have shot over 500 rounds with no issues. They will also give you $2.50/lb credit on any shells you send them.

Winchester white box 230 grain FMJ. What more stopping power do you need than that in .45 ACP?

I use Speer Lawman 230gr FMJ in my G21 Gen4. I use Speer Lawman in all my Glocks and 38 J & K frames.

General practice/target I reload my own, but I shoot 230g FMJ RN bullets, and if I shoot factory I like Federal 230g FMJ rounds.

For Home/Self Defense I use Hornady 230g XTP HP +P ammunition.

As you can tell I kinda like the 230g bullet.

For practice I've used WWB, American Eagle, and Magtech so far.

For carry, either Federal HST or Winchester Ranger T 230gr.

It this for maximum energy transfer or to help prevent over penetration?

The big 230 gr rounds do everything you need, and are more accurate.

Truthfully, my favorite G-21 ammo is the reloads I used to make for myself. It was nicely made, very hot, (right at the top of the charts) and I fired thousands and thousands of rounds of it. So much for not using reloads in your Glock; I know!

My favorite practice ammo is Federal, 'Champion'. I'll, also, use Aluminum Blazers whenever I can't get brass cases. I've been told that too many aluminum or steel cartridges can cause the breech face to, 'fire etch'; but, quite frankly, in some 10 to 15 thousand rounds I haven't seen any firing pin hole etching.

As for self-defense ammo? I'm not too fussy. CCI/Speer, 'Gold Dot'; Federal, 'HST' Tactical; or Remington, 'Golden Saber' all do it for me.

Yes, the answer to your final question is, 'Definitely'. I'm going to offer you a caveat, though: Do NOT use really hot ammo in a relatively new Glock. Give your new Glock a chance to break itself in on a good 500 rounds, or so, BEFORE you begin to shoot the really hot stuff.

NOTES: Between 185 grains and 230 grains, the weight of the bullet really doesn't matter. For, 'serious work' you're not going to be firing single shots, anyway.

Pass-through's and misses are NOT what you should focus on. Open lines and angles of fire, as well as the ultimate backstop are what you should always be keenly aware of; or, as the New York City Police Department recently showed the entire world at the, 'Empire State Building Shootout' open lines and angles of fire only need to be taken into consideration WHEN you actually have time to consider them.

Remington 230 gr Golden Saber or Federal Hydra Shok for carry.

Quick question, I've never shot WOLF ammo threw anything other than my AK, but I can get 10 boxes of it in 45 ACP for $12/50rds. Should I buy this for my G21?
