Ordered me a Springfield XDs last night
I'm pretty excited about replacing my P3AT pocket carry with a .45ACP
I ordered an ALABAMA HOLSTER and some extra mag carriers to go with it.
Having a BUG that matches the caliber of my G30 will cut down my ammo overhead, and for the times I'm not "dressed to carry", it is a much better piece of mind over the .380.
Who else has the XDs and what are your thoughts and adivce? I picked it up for $509 shipped + $20 transfer fee at my dealer.
Any tips you have are appreciated.
Cheers.

I've had mine (bi-tone) for about 5 weeks now, very happy with it.
I think it's easier to handle than my G23. On our 60 round qual course (from the 25 yard line in, need a 48 to qualify), I shot a 58 on my first time out.
I have the holster it came with and got an M-TAC but hoping that Fobus makes one soon. I know there are various opinions, bur for off duty/concealed, I like them.

Congrats. I have one and love it. Only changes I have made are Trijicon HD night sights and Garrett Industries carry rigs.

Congrats! It has become one of my favorite carry weapons as of late, and it works as expected, with no malfunctions.
Enjoy yours!

Congratulations! 300 rounds of ball ammo through mine without a hiccup. I will load with some critical defense next and if no issues, it will be my new Dec.

I have one and it's a great gun. The only change I've made is a Pearce extension (shoots better with it). This gun sees a lot of carry time in the summer.

I've got one a few months ago - SN528XXX.
Disassemble, clean and lube with Slide Glide and after 500 rounds, not one FTF or FTE issue. Dead accurate at 21', too.
Powder River makes a $17 spring kit which lowers the trigger pull to just under 4.5lbs measured.
IMO, SA has a winner with the XDs.

Got bitone about a month ago. 150 rounds, box of hollow points. No problems. Got it in a PJ holster.

Congrats. Have to admit I haven't heard to many negative things about the XD'S, and the negative things I did hear I had to question and chalk it up to internet babble. I've been waiting for the XD'S 9mm to come out. Springfield seems to come out with one or two new models of some sort every year so maybe in 2013 we'll see the XD's in a 9mm.

You might want to re-consider the XDs .45acp, which is smaller and slightly thinner than the G26. Both use the same retention holster.
The XDs comes with 5 round magazines and 7 rounders are available.

I got one from one of the first batches. I have about 1500 through it by now. Never a problem until I went about 600 straight w/o cleaning and had an FTE. Never an issue since. It's been on my hip for 14 hours so far today.
The two 7 round mags I got are junk.

I kind of like my G26,it's an all round gun that performs well in many rolls. For the most part. My EDC is a Kahr PM9 and I've never found another small 9mm that I like better for CC. The XD'S in a 9mm sounds like it might be interesting if it ever comes out. However if it's the same size as a Shield or a Walther PPS then I'd pass on it. Not that I'm the slightest bit unhappy with my PM9,but I'm always looking at new possibilities.

Congrats on the purchase, it's a fantastic pistol. I love the "flying ashtray" caliber (45 ACP) too.

I too have issues with both 7 round magazines. Third round always misfeeds.

Well over 1,000 rounds with mine now, ser. # 519XXX. Haven't had a single hiccup with a mix of Winchester White Box 230gr ball, Federal 230gr ball, Remington 230gr Golden Sabres (125 rounds) and a few Tula 230gr ball. There have been reports of issues, but I have experienced none of them. Great little pistol and I too cannot wait for it in 9mm, will have to get the .45 a little brother.

Good to know, thanks for posting. Now I just need to get an XDs. It's next on my list for a pistol.

Thanks to everyone for sharing their experiences. My FFL dragged their feet, so I pick it up Tuesday.

I'd much prefer the G26, I am a glock guy at heart, but the primary purpose for this firearm will be pocket carry and the single stack just works better to meet that need.

I came VERY close to getting the PM9, but the price difference and complementry caliber to my G30 steered me to the XDs. I'm very impressed with the PM9.

That is disappointing news, I ordered 2 of the 7 rounders with it.
I look forward to some time at the range to break it in.

I waited for a long time for my bi-tone XDs and after taking it to the range a number of times I consigned it at the shop I work at. I sold it for the very reason it is so popular, it simply was too thin for me to get a firm grip on. It sold the next day to another gentleman on our waiting list. I then purchased a Glock 36 that we had in stock. I still enjoy my XD subcompact in 40 cal. but it is enough thicker that I feel comfortable shooting it. The seven round mag I purchased ran fine with mine. I never had any issues with mine but I believe some of the issues you will read about are related to it being thin and lightweight.
