Grabbed an AR today

New Dicks grand opening near the house. Got the M&PT for $1099 - $100 off for $999. Opened an account for another 10% off. $30 on the rewards card. $100 rebate from S&W. Plus it came in this fancy box. Off to the range.

Sweet. I did the exact same thing with the Troy Carbine they had. Bought some extra mags with the rewards.

I got one of those sweet boxes last week. It's up on ebay but apparently people don't know quality when they see it.

OP, I am very interested in your rifle's accuracy.

It has a 1/8 twist, Melonited barrel, instead of a 1/9 or 1/7 chrome lined barrel.

Definitely interested.

That melonite barrel is pretty accurate, and with that FF, ought to be the katzit fo shizzle, yo!

I've heard a lot of comments on how the parts, particularly the bolt carrier group and barrel, are on par with some of the best manufactures out there for a lot less money. If I was wanting an AR instead of a SCAR that would be my first choice.

When did they start coming with Magpul MBUS instead of Troy BUIS?

Yes, the M&PT has 1 in 8" 5R Rifling. I had it on my Buds wish list for awhile before I realized its now a Dicks "exclusive". I broke it in with some American Eagle bulk and Tula, ran like a champ.

Think I am going to put on a NIKON M-223 1-4x20.

For clarity;

There are two ARs from S&W that wear the M&P15T badge.

I have the older one, with Troy BUISs & Troy quad-rail, 1/9 CL barrel.
The OP has the newer one with Magpul BUISs, S&W quad-rail, 1/8 Melonited barrel.

Yep, now they carry a Troy model along with the M&PT. The Troy looked nice minus that fugly axe stock.

Hey Chief, the 15T is not a Dick's exclusive, but Dick's does have an "exclusive" sku for your rifle. Some of the stores carry it with a Pmag, and some of them have it with some other type of 10 round mag, all under a sku sold only at Dick's. From reports on other forums, the magazines seem to be the only differences.

I believe you are correct because this morning Buds sent me an email stating the M&PT was in stock for $900. Already sold out.

Dicks sells it with a 10 round mag. Of course, that is where the $30 rewards money went.
