Florida gun range lets customers shoot at each other
A Florida gun range, has taken the concept of target practice to a whole new level. Customers can actually engage in simulated combat against other people, shooting real guns at each other.

It is not Airsoft, it is them using simunitios in real guns.
And poop happens, and will happen eventually. Count me out.

Simunition. If done right, it seems that this could be great training. Looks like this range is doing it right.
You have to have your weapon modified to block live ammo and allow only the training ammo. I assume that you can reverse the modification without screwing up your gun.

Just FYI for those who don't know, the guns must be converted for Simunition. It's not like you can just load some up and have at it with the risk of a 'real' round being in the mix.

+1000. This, I agree with force on force training but I'm not going to risk my safety. I'd rather join an MMA fighting club and play more paintball.

Sounds like they are using both simmunitions and airsoft at different price points.
As long as the airsoft stuff doesn't get into a paintball type game, I think it is great training and wish more places offered it.
Simmunitions? Well, I see a lot of issues with that and personally wouldn't do it.

Generally speaking, I believe a mainstream public venue like that leads less to training and safe practices, and more to *****s and giggles from those who don't take situations presented seriously IMO.
Each to their own, just not my bag.

I agree that it would be best if they had airsoft-type guns instead of real guns. Fake guns can be made to feel identical to any real gun, can be designed to shoot simunition only, and can be colored to be easily distinguished from a gun that shoots live ammunition.

Simunitions are not dangerous. Once the gun is modified it cannot accept real ammo.

Shucks Elmer, I would've thought you should be way used to getting shot at by now.
Considering your............ah, lifestyle and character.

I actually know her; I met her a few years ago when she started shooting IDPA. She was pretty much a noob back then, but she has trained a lot and has become a very competent USPSA competitor

I had a nice little scar on my arm for a few years from a simunition round, those things can hurt! Thoroughly enjoyed the experience and would do it again with the proper safety rules in place and strictly enforced. It's the closest training there is to the real thing.

No offense sir, but real training should hurt one on occasion.

I don't disagree at all. If it doesn't hurt, there is less incentive to treat the training as it should be treated.

This is sweet. I'm all for it. No pain, no gain.
IMO simulated real life situations with adrenaline pumping is as good a training as you're gonna get.
From what I've read its safe. The guns can't take live ammo after being modified and no one is gonna die from a rubber bullet or air soft.

Hey OP, nice *********gery with your thread title.
You're more miss-leading and trollish on this topic with your thread title than MSNBC would be.

I've shot people with simunitions a ton of times. I've been shot with them too. We train with it every so often and it's the best force on force/MOUT training I've ever done.

Agreed on the thread title. I'd do it too, as long as it was actually part of a training class. But just running around all paintball-like, with the general public, nah. If I wanted that, I'd play paintball. I'd use simunition for training, but not for goofing around.
But trust me, simunition works much better for training than real bullets.
