Black Friday Gun Sales Set Record

Maybe it's because the Obama administration inspires that "warm & fuzzy" and "happy days are here again" feeling in everybody.

Black Friday Gun Sales Set Record
3:54 PM 11/29/2012

"A new single-day record for point-of-sale background checks was established on Black Friday, November 23, when 154,873 were conducted by the FBI National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS). That total was nearly 20 percent more than the previous high of 129,166 set on Black Friday last year. Since a federal background check is mandatory for every firearm sold at retail, background check activity serves as an indicator of retail gun sales."

That's not true but don't tell the anti-gun crowd.
In some states (Texas) a NICS check isn't required.

So the gun sales were something over that number.

Sure it does, that there is a lot of hypocrisy in the US when it comes to Second Amendment rights.

Nor does Kentucky as long as you have a valid CCW license.

Right. I forgot to finish the sentence with, "if you have a CHL".

I'd say that NICS is a good indicator of gun sales. Sure, some states' CCW holders don't have to do NICS but many other states do. Some NICS don't result in gun sales, but some NICS result in multiple gun sales.

I know of one recent NICS that resulted in eight handguns...hehe.

Be sure and look at the dates on the Top Ten Days of NICS Background Checks. Who was either President Elect or President on those days?

So if you are a Tx resident with a CCL, no NICS check at retail?

I bought a Glock 17 Gen3 for my stepdad for Christmas. The NICS system was down but I had my CCDW on me so I walked right out with it after I filled out my 4473.

They had really good gun deals by me, but what's the point if you can't get ammo? I'm not paying the $30/ box fear factor rates.

I take it that Tx permits are thus, not "lifetime", as is the case in Vermont, New York, Arizona, and Indiana?

NC as well. Once when buying a handgun the guy was happy I had a CCL and he did not have to do a check.
