NYC: More **** you're not going to believe. Bloomberg.

The short ******* outlawed food donations to homeless shelters, because they (NYC) are unable to assess the salt, fat and fiber content of donated foods.

I wish his gay lover would come out and confess to the pleasure killing they both participated in a few years ago, or reveal that he has an "illegal" gun.

If people are so outraged and don't like things like this, then why the hell do they keep voting them back into office?

It doesn't surprise me one bit!

Careful...now you're suggesting that people should lie in the bed they made. There are some here that find that offensive.

Im confused.

I thought New York was one of the enlightened states that we should all learn from and be lead by. Arent they along with California supposed to be our role models as evidenced by our last elections? They are the future. What a flippin joke.

STOP. Just STOP. Drew, are you making this up or what?

Oh, you're not. For a person/family who's lost their home and/or are staying in a shelter, better to go hungry than consume more than the recommended daily sodium level.

Let them eat cake!

Jeez, you can't expect them to allow starving homeless people to eat something that might give them high cholesterol or be bad for them do you?

So the article says,

Quote:
Outlawed are food donations to homeless shelters because the city can’t assess their salt, fat and fiber content, reports CBS 2’s Marcia Kramer.
However, in no way shape or form do they support or verify that claim.

The links provided in that article go to unrelated articles.

As Bloomberg is quoted...

Quote:
For the things that we run because of all sorts of safety reasons, we just have a policy it is my understanding of not taking donations,”.
which doesn't sound at all unreasonable.

That's about the time where I'd say "I'm just leaving this here while I go take a walk around the block. If it's gone when I get back, I won't tell. That is some utter bull**** what he's doing, and I honestly hope that the article was an early April Fools joke.

The timing makes a difference.

Where there's no emergency, a policy requiring knowing what's in donated food stuff (MSG, sodium, etc...) being used to feed shelter residents, etc., is reasonable.

A couple of weeks after hurricane Sandy, where there are hundreds/thousands of families still in temporary shelters and in need of being fed, the same policy would not be.

I disagree. Even in the best of times, the least of the problems those who can't afford food face isn't sodium content. HH
