I'm part of that early crowd, putting the spiral sliced ham in the oven at 5:15 for a 2 hour warm-up so I can slice it off the bone for transportation to the meal, 2.5 hours away. Turkey and other standard Thanksgiving fare will await me there.

I got up at 4:45
I rarely ever sleep past 6:00 A.M. (maybe twice a year)
I rarley ever take naps, only if I'm sick (maybe twice a year)
As you might guess, I'm not much on staying up late; I will wake up early regardless.

Dad and I met up and got the fire started at 4:30. Bird was put on by 5:45. Made a holy mess getting the brine washed off the bird and buttered up. He's now doing his crossword thing and Im doing my glocktalk thing.

I am, but that's sleeping in for me. Just me and wife and she's at work now and works again tonite so she'll sleep most of the day. I thought our original plan was do just have a simple but special meal when she gets up. She went to the store yesterday and bought lot more than I expected; still on the simple and easy side. She got a pie and dinner rolls and instead of the chicken I thought we were having a turkey breast. I'll be in charge of getting it on the grill and fixing stove top stuffing and cooking the noodles.
Holidays are always screwed up for us, wife and both of my kids work 24 hour a day 7 day a week kind of jobs and getting time off on holidays doesn't usually happen for us so we shift getting togetter by a few days or a week.

Peeled taters, chopped onions and celery and put the turkey in its brine bath last night.
I'm done until noon.

I get up at 5:30AM every day. Just force of habit - never have been a late sleeper. But, come about 9PM I'm no good to anyone.
We're going to eat at 4PM. The bird will go in at 11AM. It's 14# so it will take exactly 280 minutes (4.66 hrs) of cooking time plus a few minutes to rest. It will be perfect as always.
Rub with sea salt and olive oil. Open oven door 1 time - to tent for last 1/3 cooking time. Skin is crispy and a little salty - legs will pull right off the bird. There's no magic to cooking a great turkey.
I hope I'm still sober enough to eat! You know how it is when the beer starts to flow...
Here's hoping your Thanksgiving is spent with family and friends and is what you want it to be.

We're not eating util 6'ish, so the bird goes on the smoker at Noon. But my buddy text me at 6:00 letting me know he was up at 5:00 and was putting his bird on the smoker...and that he had already had about three beers! Happy Thanksgiving!

Up at 5 to unwrap & rinse the bird to make sure it's thawed for early afternoon eats. Trying out one of those indoor Butterball fryers and just found out I need another 3 qts of oil. Someone has to be open today I hope.

Made 4 pies last night. Making two veggies dishes and stuffing this AM. Son is hosting but Mom's gotta help.
We're having a fried turkey, a 'turducken' and tempura shrimp.
