Bullet weight question.
Hey guy's. Been a while since I've owned a glock, but I recently stumbled upon a pristine, used Gen3 G23 at my local pawn shop, 2006 vintage. It doesn't look like it's ever even been shot, and after some haggling with the store owner, I managed to get it for a decent price (decent by Commiefornia standards anyways).
I had a question about bullet weight as I'm shopping around for SD ammo. I typically prefer penetration above expansion so I'm leaning toward the 180 grain side of the spectrum, but after looking at some gelatin tests and ballistic data around the interwebs, it seems like 165 grainers oftentimes penetrate deeper than the 180's. This seems pretty counter intuitive, and granted, the few sites and videos I've seen are a very small sample of countless tests that are out there I'm sure. Those of you that have done any type of testing yourselves, or have a lot of experience with the .40, what's your experience? Is this the norm, or is it an exception?
Just want to figure out what SD load I should use so that I can ideally buy the same weight range ammo to practice with.
Endow me with your wisdom please.
