Happy New Guitar Day...To Me!
Sometimes you just gotta say screw it and buy yourself a present.
Bought this gorgeous Les Paul Goldtop two days ago. Sweetwater was kind enough to send me pics of it to verify it's the one they're sending and to make me drool!
If you ever buy online- this company is awesome. You can negotiate price; and you pick your specific instrument by serial number that confirms things like woodgrain and weight.
Can't wait until Friday!

Nice!
I'm still a bumbling guitar fool. I've got a Yamaha acoustic. Funny is that I play that a lot more often than my Epi LP. But when I grab the LP and start working on some fingering, I go a LOT faster. Thinnner, lighter strings for sure. But for chord work, I'm all thumbs on it. LOL
I'd like to say it sounds great. . . but I rarely plug it in. Usually watching TV while futzing with it. Sad.

Nice nice nice!
For those looking for a budget guitar, if you can find an Epi that plays well, you can get the Gibson 57 PAF remakes for $150. Depending on the Epi, $300-$450 will get you very close to a true Les Paul. Even the cheap $150 with the pickups gives a great sound for $300.

It's a Les Paul Traditional.
Basically a Standard except:
kluson "green" tonepro tuners rather than kluson chrome locking
57 classic pickups vs burstbuckers
50's neck (yes!!) vs 60's asymetrical slim taper
Weight relived (yes!)vs chambered- another win.
Weight is 9#5oz
MSRP on both on Gibson's site is $3499
Retail on this was redued from $2299 to $1599 at Sweetwater Music. I simply asked if I could have it for $1399 and much to my amazement, he said no problem!
Free shipping and Gibson gatorskin case.

I sold guitars for ten years. You got a great deal on this. That price is about what I'd expect to pay for an upper-end American Series Strat.

Nice. Love my (slightly less cool) LP Studio.
But I gotta ask, how's the sustain?

I love me a Les Paul, all I have is a special Epiphone.

That's a beauty. I've always liked gold tops.
I just finished this guitar. The Loller pickups are gems.

My Gibson is an acoustic model that is exactly the way I brought it home in 1975. For those that have children or grandchildren, here is a picture of "Flat Stanley" picking a mean rhythmn on it! Ha!
Never learned to play an electric guitar and did not learn much at all about acoustic picking either but, I still have it and it still looks great.
Again, you have a super Les Paul on the way and I am sure you will love it.
