I never did understand why they thought this was a good idea.

Everytime the DOD picks a new camo pattern, somebody gets rich.

Never really did understand it, I thought the concept of effective camo was to break up the outline, I don't see how that pattern would do that, it looks like it would just blend into a solid at any distance.
Or did they figure no one camo works in most conditions anyway so pick something that looks good standing at the main gate?
If so, they failed at that too.

It's not the "digital print." It's the fact the Army tried to use 1 color for everything.

Say, for example, somebody who happened to make a substantial contribution to a certain recent political campaign??
Nothing new under the sun.

I have a back pack made out of the stuff. It gives me a headache every time I look at it.
Maybe that was the idea

Article ignores the new camo competition and that the Crye patterns making it to the last phase are new, not multicam and that the ADS Guy Cramer patterns and the Kryptek patterns are kinda digital.

I always hated wearing ACU's with a passion. Look at them..it looks like you're about to invade a concrete factory.

That is what happens with pixitaled camo. It is supposed to blurr into one color. I read an article online about it. Printers will make new colors by pixelating two colors to make a third. Like using red and blue to make purple.

On the other hand, in my neck of the woods, it blends pretty good with our vegetation, so down here in south texas they are good for hunting.

Nothing wrong with the digital pattern. It's the freaking color scheme that the Army chose. I've been saying it since day 1 that someone got a nice position at the ACU manufacture after retirement from the Army.

Yup. ACU sucks in just about every natural environment. Multicam is outstanding in both desert and woodland environments. I'm partial to woodland and desert MARPAT though

Problem is, that is exactly the opposite of the purpose of camoflauge.
A camo pattern is "supposed" to contrast so your shape is broken up and it has to be fairly big and bold, like ACU or British DPM so that contrast lasts as far away as possible. In turn, that fools your eeye into not seeing the overall shape of the camoflauged person or thing. When it blends into a single color, it's easy to see the person wearing it and it serves no purpose over a 1-color uniform. In fact, in many place a tan or green 1-color uniform would be harder to see.
Pixilated camo is fine, since the smooth lines vs. tiny squares doesn't matter (although it seems unnecessary). However, the pixils have to be used to make a bold contrasting pattern. The Afghan army actually has a better digital camo pattern than we do.

Ugly Uniform
I always thought that uniform was very ugly. I hate the velcro for patches, it looks like something a 2nd grader invented for his G.I. Joe doll. Pick out a good looking but effective uniform and SEW ON the patches and name tags!
