The D all the way.

BIL only says 'work.' AND he looks nerdy. Not really muscled out and doesn't stand out anywhere.

Teams: Some, not all, say "I'm with the Teams."

Either way DEVGRU and CAG represent and occupy the top rung of the ladder.

Those brave warriors do not look for recognition.

There was no realistic way they could have survived when they hit the ground. They didn't do it for glory or promotions.
There heroic requests were not a plan or an operation.
You're absolutely correct, but my point is that had the Ranger operation gone as planned, nobody would have ever even heard about the Delta involvement. Delta operates like that a lot, working with other combat units on particularly sensitive/dangerous/complex operations and then quietly moving on without ever publicizing or highlighting their involvement.

To put it a bit crassly, SEALS like to work in the spotlight whereas Delta likes to work in the shadows.

Valid point. Kinda like ninjas and Bigfoot.....you hear rumors, see grainy pictures and videos but never really know for sure.

I can see that reflected in the movies.

Chuck Norris is not an in you face look at me kinda guy thus he was Delta.

Charlie Sheen is indeed an in your face look at me kinda guy and was a SEAL....

See Hollywood got it right after all

According to Demo Dick, founder of SEAL Team 6, his group was the cream of the crop, bar none. They got to carry rocket launchers in the trunks of their personal vehicles. They smuggled weapons on board every major US airline. They learned to BE terrorists before they learned to fight them.
What a shock for an LEO pulling over a SEAL Team 6 member when asking, "do you have any guns, knives or hand grenades in the car?"

Apples VS Oranges. Two very different animals.

BTW much of the hype the SEALs get and the secrecy about Delta is intentional. Knowing or not knowing your enemy has a very different psychological effect.

But they must obviously still be in top shape and ready, as the Delta guys I know are on call from some top commander. They have to be ready to go at a moment's notice, even when relaxing at the local bar, where I happened upon them and realized they were Delta after talking to them.

Thanks for setting me straight.

The repetitive type of operations used in their snatch and grabs was learned and used against them. Not very good planning for the best the Army has to offer.

Saw a guy wearing a Delta Force tab once at a super market off of Yadkin Rd. Honestly I did!

I want to make clear that I honor and I have the highest respect for ALL special forces who serve with our military. The Seals,....are HIGHLY trained and are highly disciplined. Delta, on the other hand, serves to be the "special forces," of the "special forces."....Delta (on paper) "does not exist" for a reason.
There are reasons why the "Delta" element was used in WACO in 1993 rather than a highly trained Seal team. (Even though it was claimed that it was only a advisory element who worked w/ law enforcement, they had their trigger men w/ their boots on the ground...)

Meh, they do, it's just that the D-Boys don't let themselves get captured on film.

Well, they've got the medals, corporal stripes, captain's bars, and shoulder epaulets to prove it. I had never heard of a corporal captain before.

The SEALS tend to operate more in the open, however, whereas Delta operates more in the shadows, so to speak.

You will seldom ever see a press conference held outlining a Delta Operation as they don't like to publicize their tactics or missions. In fact, they often give credit for operations they conduct to other units or assets in order to keep a lower profile.

Generally speaking, if you hear about a Delta operation at all, it's normally because something went horribly wrong (Blackhawk Down). When a Delta mission goes right, they typically just fade away and move on to the next assignment.

CAG and DEVGRU are Tier I assets.
SEALs are Tier II.

So, does that mean CAG and DEVGRU use Colts, Noveske, BCM, and Daniel Defense, where the other SEALs get Smith and Wessons or Spikes Tactical?

My Brother, a career Ranger officer and 'Nam LRP, checked into the Delta program. He thought he was crazy, but found out what crazy REALLY was.

So, the discussion really should be DEVGRU vrs. Delta.

I vote DEVGRU, because I'm currently playing as a SEAL Assaulter in MOH Warfighter.

Which, by the way, is an awesome game.

Nope.

You don't even have to be a prior SEAL to be in DEVGRU, or as they call it in the paperbacks, "SEAL Team 6."
