Do you have a shtf vest?
So im buying a bunch of shtf supplies this weekend and am considering a cheap leapers vest for shtf prep. Its fairly cheap. I wont ever wear it unless something really bad happens. I wont wear it to the range or anything like that. It will hang with my supplies full of loaded mags and never move. I figure if things get really bad it would be good to have a way to carry lots of mags on me. So what say you? Buy or dont buy?

I'm sure i have one in an old seabag... Can't see ever wearing it though. Unless you'er moving around a lot and need to haul stuff or you're using it to hold your SAPI plates seems pointless to spend the money on

I wouldn't spend money on a vest unless unless it has SAPIs in it.

Old style woodland, but like new with soft inserts and SAPIs for $250 at a junk/surplus store on the bad side of town
It was packed in with a bunch of old flack jackets, helmets, and other obsolete, worn out crap. They threw in a Beretta factory M9 mag for paying cash

OK, I'll admit to probably still having one from my SPF days. The things I sorta worried about. I'm not hiking 250 miles with my family and encountering roving bands of miscreants or zombies. And if I do, I'll figure it out. 12 loaded mags on my person is a bit much for all but Red Dawn sort of SHTF preps.
So I've probably got some sort of mil-surp MOLLE-compatible somethingorother. If you are interested, PM me and I'll look around for it. Gratis. (Might just be a vest with no pockets attached. LOL)

My SHTF vest
Seriously though whatever floats you boat, but those vest are for carrying guns and ammo and not much else. Its going to sit in your closet or in a storage bin and collect dust. Trust me I have a few items that I am embarrassed to wear outside, unless the world goes Mad Max. You sure you have the money to waste on soldier gear for the EOTW?

Shtf!? Thats my everyday attire! I can wear that vest with my shoulder rig and two glocks iwb and nobody knows! Lmao!
Yeah i think instead of wasting money on a vest that will never get used i will get some chest or waist carriers for ammo. Anyone got any links to such rigs for cheap?

I actually was talking about it on S&P. Just get a good gun belt which will have multiple uses, and some surplus mag pouches. If you have an AR you can get old 3 mag M16 ammo pouches for under $7

Go hang out in the BRF. That sort of mind-set is pretty evident.

No vest.
I do have a wife and kids to haul the stuff around, though.

I certainly dont think its playing dress up or mall ninja if you never wear it. With all the talk of mass riots next week i certainly dont think that planning a way to carry a few rifle mags is all that absurd.

Not really a vest bu I also got a 25 shell shotgun ammo belt for my Remington shotgun. In case shtf happens, i ll grab that quick and i got a sidesaddle on the shotgun too. Not much but good enough to ward off any looter that comes around.
I got 00 bks and slugs on the belt and ready to go.

I still have my old LBV hanging in a corner in the closet, with mags and a Gerber and a small flashlight and whatnot still hanging off of it. So I guess that counts.
But I don't think I'd go out and buy one if I didn't have one.
