so my kids managed to plug up the toilet and flood their bathroom in the time it took me to walk to the mailbox and back. Clean up was easy though, I just plugged in the shop vac and told the older one to get to work.

Ain't that the truth. They really, truly, do not care about people at all; just they're "agenda".

Relatively warm here, too, though we had the whole freezing rain thing the other day.

Getting overtime where I am at right now would get you fired, or at least it feels that way.

We're running just about all the overtime you can get at times, and it looks like we're going to be doing the same with this sequestration BS.

Oh I will. I averaged it out once. I claim 3 deductions so I get to keep a ton (relatively speaking) more of my money than if I only claimed 1. But the OT money I only net about 59% of it.

I'm going to use it to buy some of my backpacking stuff.

And I can't believe how many pages that one thread went in the last couple days. Sheesh, work a ton and come back and you have 11 pages to read. Needless to say, I had to stop and just say screw it.

Heck, I don't need OT and I am already getting raped with the new CA and federal taxes this year. I think I am making less than last year, even with my raise.

We banned all OT without prior approval. People have been milking it and abusing it too much like it's an entitlement.

I did that for the most part a long time ago. I want that much of my life back!

What kind of backpacking gear are you after?

We have as well, but when we have more posts to fill (thanks to inmates out at the hospital or what not) than we have staff scheduled for the shift, then we get a good bit of OT. We have up to 5 or 6 staff dedicated to the hospital, but more often than not they get put inside the fence when someone bangs in, and overtime goes out to the hospital.

Speaking of calling in, I had to again today. I'm not happy with this feeling like **** off and on randomly. I think I'm finally taking my joyous donkey to the doctor tomorrow or Tuesday, whenever I can get in.

We have mandatory overtime. Then all the overtime you can want. I'm happy not working all that much.

That can be taken in many wrong ways....

As for OT, I did the math a long time ago and it stops being worth it after about 30 hours a month. After that, the OT rate actually becomes less than my normal hourly rate.

Pretty much the expensive parts. The backpack and the sleeping bag. I have stuff for camping, but not a week long hiking trip.

Overtime for my job function is not really complained about. They know we're not milking it.

If you're working in what you did that class in, yeah, I'd say so.

Check Moosejaw's clearance stuff. Plus, whatever you order there, you get 10% back in rewards points that you build up until you decide to spend them. I just got a $55 hammock for free using my points. My sister has gotten a lot with hers, including a therm-a-rest pad that normally ran $100 or so. What size pack are you looking for? Overnight, multiday, expedition?

Expedition because this'll be the first of many trips. I also want to do a week in the GSMNP without resupply.

I'm also an REI member and get the 10% back from them as well. Plus they have a great return policy.
