Payed like 2000€ but the most expensive part was the car. Next time I would probably take a cheaper one.
Flight 900€ - booked too late. 2000 miles of driving -> lots of gas in a Camaro going too fast and on high revs all the time lol.
Living was cheap in Palo Alto. The Hotel near LA wasnt too expensive for a couple of days. Too bad I didnt see anything in there except the entrance, elevator and room all the time lol. No breakfast, no nothing there. Always arriving and leaving with the sound system on full power in the car. Wonder what they thought about me there.
ahh the good old times...
I am so desperate, already the second year now.

That's what you get for renting a flashy red convertible sports car to fit into the L.A. culture.
Next time rent yourself some Ford Focus or Nissan Altima and be done with it. No need for all that flashiness. Take money saved, eat good barbecue with your buddy here.
You don't want the food they give you at the hotels here, not worth the extra money you pay for in the room. All they give you is cereal, milk and maybe some prepackaged muffins anyway which you can buy yourself for a buck at 7-11. That's what passes for "continental" breakfast. You want actual meat like sausage or bacon and pancakes, you ain't gettin' it in a hotel breakfast unless you pay for it separately. Might as well go to Denny's or IHOP down the street and ordering it yourself.

Just want to say thanks to any AZ DPS guys. We appreciate the assistance (though I wasn't personally involved).

I would have loved to drive around LA during the day too and find some restaurants and all that stuff, but we had an awesome program there and the traffic was quite bad. Never saw a traffic jam on a 12 lane highway before lol.
Also I wasnt sure if I would get killed and/or raped and/or mugged in the wrong neighborhood.
Btw talking about our good old friendship...
At the moment I am thinking about flying back for my birthday, but with my gf this time. Yeah I know, no lapdance bar this time
Oh btw car renting... I think the Mustangs are cheaper than the Camaros...

You would get killed, then mugged, then raped, in some neighborhoods, in that order.
Take your gf with you when you go back to the bars. Trust me, the dancers love it when a girl goes. Serious.
You can rent those Chrysler 200 convertibles instead. I think they are the cheapest to rent, they are everywhere.

saw the Chrysler just minutes ago online. Doesnt look that bad. Its not a Camaro, but its something.
We will see if it works out. Might stay in Palo Alto if I get a free of charge bed again. Would want to go to LA again, but if we only stay a week (which will be hard with the studying going on) it might not really pay off. A helicopter lift would be great back and forth...

Heck, I'll just be happy to head to the Smokies in March. I'm trying to get a group together to go down the week of 10-16 March. Maybe not for the full week, but for a part of it.

You have drill this weekend too?
It's time for our PHA!!!! YAY!!!
But Top is cool, and so is our CO. They'll probably let us out early.

Yep, two weeks after our last one (our PHA). Our top is pretty cool, so we'll probably get out relatively early on Sunday (it seems to be his hallmark to try to get us out as early as we can get everything done). It's our CO's last drill before change of command, though, so it might get interesting on that side, especially since I work in headquarters section (mainly supply, though it's not my MOS).

No no no... fake the pass and double back hand off to the tight end for a run to the end zone with the quarterback actually providing coverage left. Didn't you ever watch Friday Night Lights?

No. I'm probably one of the few people in the State of Texas who doesn't get the overwhelming need to have high school football run people's daily life.....

Now, if you could get all like minded Texans to incorporate a town with that mindset and keep out the others, I'd move to Texas.
