The Guinness in the US is crap. If you want a great Guinness, go to Ireland. You'll be amazed and then you'll wonder why it tastes so bad here.

Interesting... what's the difference?
Is it the emission controls for the US market , or the alcohol content that changes?

It's the health and safety codes. It's the same reason why food tastes so good in Asian countries that prepare it fresh in front of your face without every single health department putting their stamp on it to wipe taste out yo mouf!

There are actually many versions of Guinness. The Guinness you can try in Dublin in not the version that is exported. Guinness in Canada is brewed in the Great White North.

Hell in that case I'll NEVER try it here. I tried it when I still lived in Bermuda.
I think we get it direct. I also noticed the chocolate tasted better too. I had a guest at a hotel I worked at that would travel to Bermuda every year to buy a case of Kit-Kats.
Shoot, now I have a craving for Portuguese egg bread, Dunkley's Dairy egg nog, and an Art Mel's fish sandwich.
Me thinks I'm going to start planning a trip home.

I believe that Bahamas is one of the few other places that has Guinness brewed locally. The others are in Indonesia and Nigeria, I believe. The Nigerians drink huge amounts of the stuff.
They get some of the ingredients from Ireland and then brew it locally.
Now, I want fish and chips with lots of HP sauce.

Doesnt taste like guiness, but it has a strong sweet and maybe malty taste. Very good.
Guiness is a special thing, since its not really a typical beer in most countries. If you dont like beer at all than thats fine, I have heared rumors that there are people like that somewhere on this planet
If you do like beer, give it a second try. All the dark colored beers and especially guiness, are not a typical beer to drink in front of the tv. Its like a whiskey, you need the right time and place and than its just perfect.
Oh and dont compare it to most american beers - these taste like crap

bahamas guiness? cant be good...
Bahamas and cocktails - perfect
guiness and ireland - perfect
We have a couple of nice pubs here in Vienna, irish pubs and they have wonderful beers there.
Someone knows John Smith extra smooth? Its like the ferrari of the ales.
Very unknown here, but friends and I found a source to get it.

Didn't eat that day....wasn't pretty. Haven't touched the stuff since. LOL!!!

The best US made beers are usually located at a decent micro brewery. Although Shiner is real good.

Guten howdy, chaps:
Gotta love night shift. Off tonight, so after hanging out with a good friend for a few hours I'm sitting on my couch, watching "Raiders of the Lost Ark" (the first and best of the Indiana Jones movies, btw) drinking some good beer and eating a microwave dinner!
It's gonna be sad to go back to days next month...

I love the work at nights, but part of me is ready to return to days so I can have a normal routine again.
I try to keep a semi-regular sleep schedule, but sleeping all day and staying up all night makes for some very boring days off...

I tried that too, but with the current dept's amazing 5 and 3 schedule, by my third day off, I always found myself sleeping closer to a "normal" schedule than I'd like. Back in the bad old days when I had to bid for my leave days, it wasn't a problem cuz you'd only get 1 or 2 off at a time.
Needless to say, I'm looking forward to my time on afternoons. Ahhhhh, bliss...

Wiedeman's is no longer a live label in the mass produced market. It was revived as a small batch beer.

Nah... I prefer that schedule totally. Love sleeping days and being up all night. Vampires, I tell ya, have all the fun.

I hear you, man. I'm on evenings this quarter, but it looks like I may be mostly on day watch next quarter. I'll HATE the work (all the unit team and other assorted admin types running around), but the hours and sleep schedule will be nice. AND it looks like I MAY have a shot at Christmas off!

Nights here too, but we don't rotate schedules and i'll be on nights for the foreseeable future.....
I'm good w/ that though, I'm a night owl by nature and there's more sneaking to do under the cover of darkness.
