Ruger GP100 6" half lug in blue found. Did I mess up?

Came across one of these in very good shape for $400 + tax, but walked away.

For some reason, I suck at shooting a revolver, and my next handgun may be a 1911.

Still, if I didn't have a Wiley Clapp GP100, I would of bought it, and may go back for it.

If it doesn't jump into your pocket when you see it, it isn't worth getting.

It goes both ways for me.

Sometimes I buy on impulse, sometimes I think about it for a while...

I would have bought that half-lugged blued model for $400, no sweat.

The handling is a lot better without all that extra weight up front.

Seems like a good price, I like the 4" better though.

Great deal,.....you should go buy a lotto ticket right now...

I had a 6" stainless one that I traded........one of the worst mistakes I've ever made.....

$400.00? I'd be all over that like a chicken on a june bug, even if I did own a WC GP100.

Svelte "looking" for a chunky hunka Ruger, I really like the half lugs in both 4" and 6".

People on gunbroker think highly of their GP100 offerings!!! $625 for a lightly used "buy now" price on a full lug 6"??? (I've been out of the gun buying game for awhile now; too long apparently, as they all seem like panic prices to me. Maybe it's just the shrinking dollar in action.)

Yeah, some of the asking prices are still ridiculous IMO.

I like the full under lug on a 4" gun, but the 6" is better (for me) with the half-lug.

Well, went and got it for $434 OTD. Revolvers for a decent price seem to be rare around here. I can't find anything wrong other than some muzzle worn blue. I actually like the blue look better than stainless on this gun. Looks kind of like a smaller Redhawk. Oh, it seems to be a 1989 make.

I wonder what it cost new back in 89? $349? More?

Don't know but I bought a stainless 5.5" Ruger Redhawk .44 brand new in 1986 for $350 on the nose from a small gun dealer in town. Probably at or close to MSRP.

Don't have a camera, sorry. On another note, you guys find it difficult to get a fair price much less a deal in your area? My shops are all pretty much non-negotiable and usually way overpriced.

Usually the shops I visit are firm on their prices. It's take it or leave it. I understand because they have bills to pay and everything, so if it's out of my range then I'll pass on it.

On the upside, there are a couple of shops that always try to be competitive and try to stay as far below MSRP as they can without cutting their own throats.

Good buy. I bought a Wiley Clapp a few weeks ago and just a couple days ago added at 4" .38 Special. The price on the latter is what led me to buy it.

nice find. i prefer firing revolvers over semi's, and you have one that you cant seem to find anymore. if I'm not mistaken, ruger only makes ss, full lug gp's now. you could load that guy, put it in a drawer and it would fire 100 years from now.

a chicago cop once told me that they had a call where an elderly woman in her 80's, used a revolver to shoot a home invader that her husband loaded in the early 1940's, prior to being killed in ww2. the gun sat for 60+ years loaded in a drawer. cool story.

*i know old 1911's have been loaded that long and will fire too. not looking to start a debate!

Yes, you messed up. I saw a 4" GP 100 tonight with Hogue grips for $579 used at my LGS. I already have one, but that's (yours) is a find. Hope it's still available if you're considering it.

Depends on the shop and, how long they have had it sitting there.

Hate to quote my own post, but found a Ruger GP100 6" used with (200 rounds fired thru it) 250 rounds of ammo. for $525.00 and purchased today. This was a deal you don't normally see on a state forum, but it is what it is.

I wouldn't have paused long enough to catch the price. No, you didn't mness up. You can get a much better S&W for that at any gun show.

For four bills? A Gun Show?! Wow Bren, I need to go to one of your local gun shows because the ones here in Las Vegas have a dearth of "good buys" be it much better S&Ws (heck, even half way nice examples) or 6" half lug blue GP-100s.

Altho deals can be had once in a great while, I will admit. Well, or so I've heard anyway. By the time you adding paying to park, and entry fee... I've never run into one.
