Rail Covers For S&W M&P 15-22 (KAC Doesn't Work)

I have several KAC panels, and none will work on my M&P .22.

The metal clips won't clamp on.

Silly me, as I had assumed the rails on that thing were standard 1913 rails, but something sure ain't right.

So -- anyone got the rifle? Have you put rail panels on? If so, what brand did you use and did they actually lock on?

TIA.

The KAC rail covers require a small relief cut in the notch of the rail to lock into place correctly. Some brands and models of rail include these notches in one or more rail slots, but some do not.

Anything other than the KAC rail covers should work just fine, though.

I had the same issue with them on my Colt LE6940. Take a pocket knife and slightly lift up on one side of the clip. It'll lock the panels in place.

Doing this on a rail without the cuts for the KAC covers can eventually cause the locking tabs to bend, and they may stop working correctly.

If your rail isn't designed for the KAC covers, then just use something different.

I use Magpul XT Rail Panels on mine. Tight fit but nice and comfy once they are on.
