I go with Grimlet. Any town that has a big ass fiberglass shark like that is a town you want to consider.
Hilarious that you knew exactly what I was talking about.

Ok,ok,ok. Its for the children.....
Tourist children. Hahahaja
Seriously, at least drive through and see what we have to offer. Tantrix is selling swamp life. Im selling salt life. Either way, its a win. Bay St. Louis and Ocean Springs are smaller bedroom communities. Gulfport/Biloxi are the biggest you will find in the state. They still aren't that big.
Funds, are having anything to do with the VA property leasing on the beach in Gpt?

The good news is that if you move to the mississippi gulf coast you are still close enough to the far superior salt water fishing in Louisiana. Redfish capital of the world. Hell, for the Mobile redfish tour those guys run open water WOT to Venice, LA.

At the moment I'm sitting in the parking lot of a Subway about 2.5 miles west of hwy 49. Bout to head back to God's country.

Tantrix - I had some family over and we took them on a swamp tour last weekend. One of those tourist deals where they feed the alligators and BS the people.
Its just occurring to me now that I should have brought them to da basin for Tantrix's swamp tour -- the only one in Louisiana that requires a spotlight on your head!

One discussion I've been reluctant to bring up...
Bugs. How bad is it?
Not that I'm gonna let the lil buggers get in my way.. but I was nearly killed by mosquitoes one night in Alabama, and another in Florida. I was lucky to survive the loss of blood.
Are there seasons that are just dominated by the mosquitoes/gnats or whatever?

Let's just say the Brown Pelican isn't our state bird, it's actually the mosquito (or "moustique" as we say in French).
Really, the bugs are worst on the hottest summer nights. If you aren't used to it you might wanna bathe in Deep Woods OFF before going out on the water. I've had some out-of-state people on my boat at night and they said the mosquitoes felt like bee stings...
But trust me, when you get out on that water and start hoisting 50+lb alligator snappers and 400lb gators into the boat, you'll forget all about the bugs.

Funds and Tantrix are correct. La has well over 10 times the coastline and who knows how much marsh.
We Mississippians enjoy their resources daily.
My city is closer to Venice than Lafayette. I am within an hour of the La marsh That includes drive time to the boat launch.
We have more sand beach and the views on Hwy 90 are great for sunrises and sunsets. Just get past the 30' shark.

Oh, I forgot to add that...the largest swamp in the US. It dwarfs the Everglades.
Here's some shots from my boat, springtime on the Atchafalaya:
And of course, hog hunting with my Catahoulas on Bayou Teche:
And do I have to mention the food one more time? A pot of red beans done Acadian style:

And the good news is that those oysters are pre-oiled, courtesy of BP.
I kid I kid
I still eat the seafood from the gulf. If the northerners dont want it all the better for us. The price drops for us!!!!

Fix is such an ugly word. I still cant give you any help like that. Especially after I took a local judge before Judicial Review for ticket fixing.
