If it keeps going the way it has been, snapper season will only be one week total.

I'm a member on Spearboard, and that's all I hear.
Why are all my hobbies ones that are constantly threatened with being outlawed??!

Even the worst eateries in Louisiana are 10x better than anything in Florida. I'm 100% dead serious about that.
People down here have no clue as to what creole cooking is and no proper ideal of how to us cayenne pepper and just sprinkling creole seasonsing on sometime does not make it Creole Food
And do get me started on cooking shrimp and Florida & how to make a proper roux

It really is a shame what the rest of the seafood eating world does to their food.

If this works out, count me in!
I'm actually almost as excited about the freshwater fishing. Alligator gar, and other monsters.. Heck yes!
Can I bring a lasso?
In celebration of the move, if it happens, I will be "steve irwin-ing" a gator.
Checked out Abbeville, looks like the area surrounding isn't as populated as first glance makes it out.. appears to be lots of farmland?

Ehhh...yeah, you can bring a lasso if you want but I'll be putting a .22lr in their head by way of a Marlin 60.
Yeah Abbeville is a small town with lots of rural area around it...which means cheaper housing, and if you're renting a place outside of city limits and 200ft or more from a neighbor, you can shoot on your own property. On top of that, you won't be very far from Lafayette. It's really a great location if you want to be close to it all.

OMG Tantrix!!! Did you just say close to it all in reference to Lafayette????
That place is slightly better than sticksville. But I guess if you are living in Abbeyville it does seem great. I bet they got a Walmart. Hahahahahahaha
No dis to my La brethren but come live where they come on vacation.
We have a Walmart AND a Lowes.

Lafayette is a great town. College town, metric **** piles of money, big enough to provide opportunity but still not a big city. But, most importantly it has 2 things your area doesn't: great food and great culture.
No need to live near the tshirt shop with the 30 foot fiberglass shark head sticking out of the front.

Man I would die for a boudin ball from Broussard.
True to my Acadian country uprising and keep it 100% reall. This is what I have in my freezer.
and the goods cooked and grilled, or my leftovers. May cook some more this weekend. A few links on the smoker with some hickory or oak wood and you have a feast.
We do just fine here in Florida

It really doesn't get any better than a hot boudin ball in the winter time.

Keeping with the theme. Last nights dinner was crawfish/shrimp etouffee. Besides BBQ, Coonass food is all I know how to cook.

Nice and thick consistency, cooked in cast-iron, and I see the bay leaf in there...I'd say good job. Might as well go ahead and bet I'd eat the hell out of it. If you had any leftovers from that pot, I envy you today...because it's twice as good after staying in the fridge overnight.

Lafayette is a great town. College town,
|
Honestly, I wish you guys would tone it down some- its just getting too danged crowded around here already. Last week it took me 30 minutes to travel from the Acadiana Mall back to I-10 in bumper to bumper traffic.
The lakes and swamps are getting too darned popular!
(I prefer to praise Texas to the skies. Let them have the big crowds and traffic jams. Gee- what a great state!)

Mostly because it's a college town...more traffic is expected. And it's also because it's so awesome of a city...it's pretty much got everything *I* need at least.

Seems like there was 6 wrecks a day in the evening over there, my drive to work during the holidays was taking me 45 minutes to go from just south of the mall to the oil center.

Meh...don't let it get to you. That's only in the big cities (which is pretty much the case anywhere). That's why I live out in the woods and only have to put up with that crap when I need to go into the city for something.

I'm torn between my desire to live in the sticks, and not wanting a long commute.
*Also have to stratigically place myself for best resources and defense in the event of a zombie infestation..

It hurts my ego to admit , but I'll probably need some local coaching to get my herping skills up to speed in the south.
I'm not used to being able to find the stuff that can kill ya.
Can not wait.
