What is more important, Roe vs Wade or Heller?

It is clear that in the race for the presidency the Supreme Court is the most important issue to me. It is a real struggle between two important Supreme Court cases.

Which way to go? What is more important, Roe vs. Wade or District of Columbia vs. Heller?

To me both cases are basic roots of our freedom. District of Columbia vs. Heller leads towards the idea of voting for a Republican. If District of Columbia vs. Heller were reversed little would change. No state would ban guns. CCW will continue as it is. There would be little impact to our day-to-day life and gun rights.

Roe vs. Wade leads to the Democrat. If Roes vs Wade were reversed, over half the states would criminalize abortion in the first year. Illegal abortion clinics with pop-up all over the place. Women will go to butchers or use coat hangers and many of them will die. This is something that I cannot deal with. Putting women’s life at risk is unacceptable.

Obama has said nothing about Heller. Romney vows to reverse Roe vs. Wade.

The basic reality is regardless who is elected, there will be a stalemate with nothing changing politically except for Supreme Court Nominations.

What is a libertarian to do?

I feel it is unfortunate that our voting choices come down to issues like these, but they do. These decisions should have been settled years ago and no longer be constantly up for debate. As for me, I am going with gun rights, although I do think abortions should remain legal.

Roe vs. Wade is irrelevant. The past 32 years have seen 20 years of GOP presidents and none have been able to do anything about it, and that won't change. Legislation would never get out of Congress. I'm not a fan of it (and I'm not having that debate again) but it won't change.

Romney is running for president, not emperor/dictator/king. The only influence he can have on past decisions would be to either nominate different judges (but then some of the existing ones have to retire/step down/die first) or to pressure Congress to pass legislation to make abortion illegal. As I stated above, that legislation would never make it out of Congress.

Besides, he will have his hands full trying to revive the economy. The president's influence is limited there as well but any legislation to that end will have a better chance of getting passed.

Roe v Wade has resulted in the murder of millions. Clearly that is the most important (reprehensible) rulling.

Roe V Wade is worse.

When you kill 55,000,000 who would have had kids themselves you have to import people as we have done.

And since a lot of these imports are from Mexico and South America and vote for strong Socialist leaders like Hugo Chavez, this will kill Heller and the 2nd Amendment.

So Roe V Wade is a 2-fer; kill babies and Heller.

I agree. Roe vs Wade shouldn't even be in front of the Supreme Court.

im not even looking at the debate on that, just the fact that there is no constitutional right to abortion.

Why is there more single issue voters on abortion than any other issue? Especially when nothing will change either way. BTW Romney himself pretty much said hes pro life but the ship has sailed, The court made its decision, and he wants to focus on the economy, why is everyone trying to make this the abortion election, just watch the VP debate, they tried to make that the huge issue and it came out of nowhere.

Which one killed more people? Roe vs Wade killed ONLY 50-60 millions of Americans and millions more world wide where US funding pays for murder.

It depends on whether you are a gun owners, or unborn child.

Reversing Roe v Wade just gives the abortion issue back to the states. Abortion will still be legal in liberal states.

Go to silentscream.org and see. It's a grizzly procedure, and people who love babies just cannot seem to get past what is happening to them in the womb.

Yep, interesting problem. And I share your views.
I hate the way the two political parties have used these issues to split the voters. "You have to vote for me to keep that other guy from doing crazy stuff."
But Americans have bought into it.

So the most important thing for you is to protect the safety of a moron that is too stupid to use birth control, then too stupid to abort early when it is fairly easy with over the counter medication, then too stupid to find a place to do it safely - another country etc. Screw all other rights, the economy, foreign policy etc. All that matters is morons can have abortions. Otherwise the streets will be filled with dead girls bleeding out from a coat hanger.

What are you huffing?

Best solution, stay home and do not vote.

Could you be more inflammatory and emotional in framing what should be a rational question?
