Help me decide which 9mm 1911
Debating which 9mm 1911 I should go with. This will be for range target shooting only. Most important to me will be the accuracy and out of factory trigger.
Kimber Stainless Target 9mm
Lawman
RangeMaster
Their price around my neck of woods will be: Kimber $1250, Lawman $1650, RangeMaster $1765 OTD. Part of me is yelling "just got a RIA($600) and do a trigger job". But I think it's time for me to step up and own a $1k plus pistol.
If there is any other 9mm 1911 you guys can recommend to me, please feel free.

If you could stretch the budget just a bit from $1765, you could have a Les Baer and a much better gun IMO. Here's my 9mm Baer Heavy Monolith.
Also consider the STI Trojan which is a great value at around $1000.

I'd go with STI. Better guns without the firing pin safety.

I love my kimbers but 1400 for a stainless target is WAY out of line. I would go with the Lawman, or If you can find one, look at the Dan Wesson Pointman 9 http://www.cz-usa.com/products/view/...pointman-nine/

Are you looking for reliability? Accuracy? Ergonomics? Looks? Build quality? What are you priorities for this gun? One can likely assume that most if not all 1911's in the over $1000 price range should be excellent products and should have all of the attributes I have listed.

That is a true statement, but alot of the copies are much better quality than the original.

I wasnt talking about kimber. Quality wise I would put colt and kimber in the same class. I have owned both. I was fortunate enough to handle a DW Heritage a couple of months ago at a match. I would put it leaps and bounds ahead of both kimber and colt. Im thinking my next 1911 is going to either be an STI escort in 9mm or a DW RZ10 if I can ever find one.

The MSRP on the RZ10 like I want is $1350. Unfortunately there just arent a lot of them out there. There is one on gun broker, but its listed at $1695 and im not going to pay $350 over msrp for any gun

Since that it's more expensive than the Colt, then it stands to reason that it should be better made, right?

Seriously, the Colts of today isn't like the crap that was turned out twenty or thirty years ago.

I have a RIA Tac in 9mm. It shoots great, no malfunctions. I paid about $425 for it. Not sure why you think it would need a trigger job more or less than the others that you mentioned.
The only thing I don't like are the black sights that came on it.

Absolutely. But also take a look at the special combat govt. Roughly $1900+ Then take a Look at the Les Baer Premier II. Both are roughly the same price but I guarantee that there is a lot more hand fitting and attention to detail in the Baer.

And twenty years from now that Baer will be sitting on the gun shop shelf while others would be clamoring to buy the Colt.
