Best Underwood 10mm SD choice?

I would like to know which round you would choose and your reasoning. Thanks!

SD choice is very dependant on expected encounters where you live, climate, housing, etc. But the performance of the GD 180 HP or XTP 200 HP from Underwood would be my consideration although I load my own.

If you're more likely to encounter outside your home in crowded areas GD 165 -180's may be better, Woods carry 200 XTP's.

Practice and secondary shots to manage recoil and placement are key to performing underpressure of SD situations.

Without going into all the details I will be returning 2 boxes of the 200 XTP's to Kevin. I have not yet loaded any SD ammo just my FMJ's. The 165's would minimize over penetration. Right? Not looking for woods carry at this time.

We are actually discussing the Underwood ammo over at 10mmFirearms http://10mm-firearms.com/index.php. He is using IMR800X powder and one of the guys posted some pull down info with charge weights found inside for various bullet types.

About the over penatration...possibly? Many factors come into play, barriers, clothing layers, physical size of the target, shot placement or impact loaction and what internal structures are incountered by the projectile.

I use the 180g GD's (1300 FPS) in my Glocks and 10xx Smith's.

I use the 180g GD (1240 FPS) in my Delta Elites.

I like the combination of good penetration and energy. I use mine for SD. Not woods.

Based on what I've tested so far, my favorites would be the 180 gr XTP, 165 gr Gold Dot, and the 180 gr Gold Dot.

That's what I use in my Glock 20SF. After seeing tnoutdoor9's 180gr GDHP test, I figured backing off the velocity a smidge wouldn't hurt. Not to mention the DE load shoots great.

I purchased them to use in a CA89-10 (H&K MP5-10mm clone) to run on full auto. These weapons DO NOT have a barrel ramp and Kevin's website states not to use it in a rampless barrel.
