New S&W Bodyguard .380 pocket pistol with a built in laser is a pretty good backup gun. This pistol has a built in laser that is activated by a touch of your index finger on the side of the laser which is integrated in front of the trigger guard. One thing that bothers me about pocket pistols is the inability to aim and hit a target at any distance. The integrated laser makes it easy. Nice.

The weight is not bad though a little more than a Keltec or LCP. The size however is just about the same as those two and easily fits into a pocket holster in my back pocket.

So when the SHTF as we know it will... one of these in your pocket will be a good addition to your toys. The build quality is good and the addition of the laser is great. I give it 5 stars.

I have the S&W Bodyguard in .39 special. Once I had a trigger job done it is a nice little piece. I prefer the Ruger LCP with the Crimson Trace laser of the S&W, mainly due to how the laser is activate don the Ruger. Much easier to deal with, YMMV.

I used to have a laser on my lcp, but took it off due to compactness issues. Nothing wrong with it, I just preferred the lesser bulk. I know LG1 carries (not letting out any secrets; he's mentioned it here) a small pocket auto with a laser and likes it.

There is something to be said about having a .380 pocket pistol. Its a go anywhere, always with you gun. Too many S&P folks prep for an mad max EOTW event, so they want big pistols and rifles. However when the SHTF sometimes appears without warning, like driving home from work, or at the supermarket. Also there may be times when you need to really be discreet about being armed, like during martial law or other civilians can't carry guns event. Having a handgun in your overall preps that is small, easy to carry, and easy to hide is very important.

I really wanted to get a S&W bodyguard .380. Its almost everything I want in a .380 pocket gun, with the steel frame, good dovetail sights and manual safety (yes I said I want a manual safety), but I rather wait and see if they make one without the built in laser in 2013.

I'm glad you are happy with your puchase UneasyRider, just keep a close eye on that laser battery compartment screw, and invest in blue loctite.

Good comments all. I have found the pro's to be the laser, the build quality and compactness. As for negatives it's a bit heavier than the Keltec and a little bit bulkier do to the laser, but just a bit because the laser is small.

I have carried a pocket gun for many years and I have no problem with the .380 round (don't complain about it unless you have been on the receiving end of one). What I have always been bothered by is the limited distance of accurate shooting. The laser more than doubles the effective range of the weapon. I like it.

I have been carrying a BG 380 IWB for 2 years and like it's size and operation. The laser is good for practice trigger control but it will not be easy to turn on in an tactical situation. I second keeping an eye on the laser mounting screw, it will back out and stop the slide from completing a cycle. That happened to me twice, the first time it prevented the slide from moving the last 1/8" so could not take the gun apart. Had to go back to the factory. The next time it stopped the slide I applied a little more force to get the slide past the screw and I could get the gun diaasebled. It seems like about 100 to 200 rounds and the screw needs to be tightened. I check mine at each cleaning. The factory told me that the screw should have locktite on it but never did. I eventually locktited it but when it came time to change batteries the screw would not come out, had to send it in again. The socket head screw takes a very small wrench so it strips easily.

..& added a laser module.

Went a step further more recently..

.. & got a Micro IR Laser Module for use with NVD.

It is r-e-a-l-l-y small...

Nice pistol! And thanks for helping out my local economy too. They manufacture those about 3 miles from where I work, near Keltec.

The DB was on my shortlist with the Keltec which I have owned a few of but I decided to go with the integrated laser. I like the BG although it is a little heavier, I always wear a gun belt though so it's not much of an issue for me.

As you can see with my pics above..

..the micro lasers are getting even more compact & ergonomic...IMO.

Gave the 1st CCW mouse gun (Keltec P32) with a laser to the wife..

..I tote the one above now.

I mentioned it months back..

..but a small laser equipped CCW..

.. & a small powerful flashlight with lots of throw..

..could make all the difference in an dark encounter..

..like happened in Aurora!

I waited a year until I felt DB ironed out the issues to my satisfaction with the DB380..

..but the laser equipped BG is such a good value ..

..I will definitely take a look at it for family members that want similar to mine to CCW , but don't want the hefty pricetag!

Not really...

I have very frequently carried .22 LR, .32 ACP, 9x17mm....less frequently 9x18mm, 9x19mm & 5.7x28mm....much less frequently 10mm (deep woods mainly)

By far....my most frequent daily carry implement is not even a firearm..

It's a well made pistol with or without the laser. If the laser brakes I have a lifetime warranty and will get it fixed. You may not be aware of it but if you use your pistol under the rule of law you won't see it again for at least a year. And pocket pistols are not made for the range but for close in life saving.

All in all I feel just fine about it.
