A truck shell?
I've never seen these for rent anywhere in the U.S.

Probably not much of a market, not exactly one size fits many. I can't imagine how many you would have to stock to fit a reasonable variety of recent vintage trucks.
Good luck, you may have to make do with a trailer if you need to seal something up.

Did you try looking around for a used Aluminum Cap? If you find one cheap enough, after you are done with it, take it to a Scrap Dealer and recoup some of your money.
A few times, I found them out in the country in somebody’s front yard while just taking a drive. I never paid more than $20.00 for one.
Take some C Clamps with you.

Figured it was a long shot, taking a cross country road trip next month and a shell on the back of my truck would be ideal.

I've had two trucks with shells, if I ever get another pickup I will buy a shell at the same time as the truck, a nice one.
My dad had a '61 C10 with a shell he built out of corragated aluminum, electrical conduit and plexiglass. I wish I had a picture of it.

So do you mean a topper? Never seen one for rent. Tons for sale cheap. You do have to make sure it fits YOUR truck. Even same brand over yrs have changed.
I see cheap/junky ones on lawns around. Quality ones go to dealership. Often if they buy truck with topper they try to sell it with topper for couple weeks, (at most) then remove topper and sell truck. I have seen some nice ones at dealerships/ reasonable (if you make a low offer)
