Left slide rail is torn

On my Gen 4 21. Was cleaning it today and saw the sharp piece of metal hanging off the frame behind the slide rail. After looking at the slide plate cover that covers the firing pin I noticed the cover plate wasn't in the whole way and hanging slightly below where it should have been. Took the cover off and removed a small piece of plastic in the groove. This came off the cover plate. Cover plate fits the way it should now. The round count is 206 and with the slide cycling and the plate cover not in the whole way it caught the metal. Gotta call Glock tomorrow and send it back. Anybody ever deal with something like this?

Thanks Danny. Kinda bummed, but this is my favorite pistol. Glock will stand behind it. Hopefully get it back before my steel shoot at the end of the month.

Guys ill get some picks up tomorrow. Called Glock today and they said they might replace the frame. I'm worried about mismatched numbers between slide and frame. Does this happen?

It would be a violation of Federal Law for Glock to give the new frame the same serial number, so you can expect a new serial number or perhaps a complete new pistol.

And they will tell you that it doesn't affect that value to mis-match the serial number. Would you pay as much for a mismatch as you would for one that matched?
I wish Glock would get away from every part having a serial number.

My older G27 from around 1999 had a recall and Glock replaced my frame with a new one. They kept the serial number the same but added a 1 to the end of it after the "US" designation. Like this "abc123US1" .
