Chicago "Violence Tax" on guns and ammo

How about this, if you shoot someone, and are found guilty of it, everything you, the shooter, own in the world is given to the victim or their family? Even down to the clothes on your back.
When you get out of the joint you get a plain white sheet as your sole possession. That's it.
Why do they keep punishing the law abiding people?

Or how about you actually enforce the laws you have on the books before trying to implement yet another stupid rule that won't do a thing to stop the violence.

For those that didn't read the article ( because this is glocktalk) the tax would only be in effect in cook county which already has a assault weapons band and a 10rnd magazine limit on handguns

If you live and work and use public transportation in Cook County and are not armed you are officially an idiot.
I used to have to ride the EL trains in the 70's and ALWAYS carried a handgun, I cannot imagine Cabini Green now.

As I understand it there are so few legal gun owners in Chicago that I have to wonder where the money is coming from? I presume the rest of the state. Funny thing, i understand that city Aldermen in Chicago can get a CCW quite easilly-the rest of the population can forget about it. Can anyone shed some light on it?

OK, so those who legally own guns have to pay a tax on them and the ammo they buy. But how about the criminals on the street who clearly aren't paying this tax? When they get caught, can't we also get them for tax evasion? After all, fair is fair, right?

I really don't understand how the voting citizens in the huge metro areas can be so blind to the conditions around them.
How can anyone reasonably believe laws like this will change anything?
