I have seen V-8" as small as 2.1 cu in, but most are not four stroke. One guy does an eighth scale Ferrari v-12 that runs.

Most of them have to run on special fuel blends because the commercial fuels will not break down fine enough.

When I was about 12, I assembled a Visible V-8. It was very difficult and complicated. It actually ran, with all parts included, like a real engine, off of a battery.

When my son was about 12, he and I assembled another Visible V-8. It was still very difficult and complicated.

Great post. I love this sort of stuff. One day, when I am no longer able to seek the physical adventures I do, I see myself tinkering with stuff like this.

Ok, here's the ultimate question.

Would scooters still be nerdy if they had a V8 in them?

I always liked the mini radial engines too.

I used to make small, working steam engines. I may make some more of them. At my high school there was a plastic see-through engine, not a V-8, a single cylinder, that ran on alcohol.

Yes, but even with a V8 the smart car will still make you look like a homo

I've seen most of these engines at various car shows around the country, and I was most impressed with that Ferrari Boxer 12, because the transmission, brakes, gages, and everything else works.

I wonder if the french telephone company is wondering how manyhours they donated to that project.

There have been V8 engines made with much less than 281 ci. One of the most desirable Ferraris ever had a V8 displacing just 171 ci, albeit with a couple turbos.

That V8 is cool but the V12 is a work of art!
