The bad news is, he is not awake, yet.
The good news is that he is showing small signs of improvement and following verbal orders like moving his toes on demand.
He did respond when he heard my voice. His heart rate increased when I talked to him.
This is going to be a long road to travel. Please keep everyone in your prayers and thoughts.
His department is providing a steady stream of visitors, many whom he trained as their 3rd Phase FTO.
The rough time will start in a week or so after the initial flood of visitors dwindle down. That's when I and Mrs RussP will step back in and do the little and not so little things needed to shore up the family. Long term plans will come later. Right now, we're doing it day to day.
His wife and brother appreciated the responses here.

I will add that today, with FBI, local PD, VSP and me there, it was the absolutely safest room in the hospital!!
