As much as I try to stay away from a 1911, I cannot deny it....

As much as I try to stay away from a 1911, I cannot deny it.....

....no collection or arsenal is complete without a 1911. That is a fact. There is no justifying it.

Picked up this Springfield Lightweight Champion Operator last week. The dealer I got it from deals directly with SA, and had just got it directly from SA a couple days before. Wanna talk about factory fresh!

I just got all the goodies in for it, so I figure its time to reveal it in its final form-

1. Techwell "Carry" Magwell w/ Mil-Tac G10 Diamond Grips (I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the Techwell system. Its so tight, with no gaps. Totally above and beyond my expectations)

2. Ankert Customs Pre-Cut Grip Tape for front strap. (It was only $10 for two of them, and I didn't need a whole roll of safety walk tape, so I figured, "what the hell, lets support the little guy")

I love the Techwell. I figured some fitting would need to be done, but that is not the case. It is, however, VERY tight, and you need to fiddle with it. I am happy to report that it blends seamlessly into the magwell of the gun itself, and that there are no gaps. I like the fact I can go from magwell, to no magwell, simply by removing the grips. I like how Techwell is working in conjunction with Mil-Tac to make these grips with the locking tabs for the Techwell itself.

Now that its done, I'm hoping to get to the range this coming weekend with it. I have no doubt she'll be a sweet shooter.

That's really sharp! Rails are starting to grow on me. Do you have any pics of the magwell from underneath?

Looks great. No doubt, 1911s have a strong appeal. That is a very nice model you have, I have always wanted one.

Interesting, just watched the YouTube video on their website, looks like the grips are holding the magwell. Can you show us some close up pic of the magwell and underneath as well?
