Scored a brand new Beretta today.....
Was at my PX on base today looking at guns, when the lady brings out some boxes to unpack.......a fresh shipment....
She opens a box and pulls out 3 Beretta boxes........
I asked her what they were, and she said the shipment of M9A1s they ordered finally came in.
Naturally, I've been wanting an M9A1 for a while, but haven't seen one in person......got my hands on this factory fresh M9A1 and was sold!
There's just something about racking the slide on a brand-new Beretta.......its like its on ball-bearings or something.
I ordered a set of VZ "Golfball" G10 grips today. I'm thinking about ordering the "D" spring, but the trigger pull doesn't bother me too much. We'll see.
As a side note for you Beretta experts- what is the frame coated with on the M9A1? Its like its coated with the same coating that's on the slide....?? Its not bare anodizing, that's for sure. Its the same exact coating that's on the slide....

I bet these beat the issued ones from the Armory don't they?
I acquired some m9 magazines and was thinking of getting a A1 let us know how she shoots

The finish on the slide is Bruniton, epoxy over park. I like it.

Oh man, I can't believe you bought one of those. The safety/decocker is all wrong, your locking block is gonna break next week and you'll never be able to hit anything with that double-action first pull.
Not to mention the absolute fact that you'll die in a gunfight if you're not shooting a GLOCK!
I have an M9A1 too, I just bought it to try to keep the old, obsolete thing from getting anyone else killed.
I did have a minor issue with mine. The extractor pin hole was not staked and the pin walked out. I staked it, no problems since...

Congrats on the new pistol. As Foxtrot mentioned the slide is coated with an epoxy finish called Bruniton over a parkerized slide.
As for the frame. It donesn't have the Bruniton finish. The slide is steel. The frame is anodized aluminum. At the moment I don't recall the exact process Beretta uses. But after the anodizing process which hardens the aluminum it also makes it pourous and can except color dies. This time in black. Then the the frame is sealed is a certain way.
Now if you bought an Inox colored model. The slide would be stainless steel. And frames would be anodized. But at least recently, Beretta has been using silver paint over the yellowish anodized frame on some Inox guns. These were on the Italian produced Inox pistols IIRC. Instead of dying the guns silver during the anodizing process, they were simply painting it silver and in turn the finish wore easily.

Congrats Very nice pick up. My very first handgun came from the PX at Camp Pendleton in 1989. A Ruger P89DC.

Nice I've been keeping my eye out for a cheap used 92 for a bit now. They added me to the base Auxiliary Security Forces so I get issued a M9 pretty often and wanted one to train with on my own time.

Nice purchase. Congrats. Berettas are so much classier looking than a Glock.

Ah the memories. I carried an M9 on my chest for years when I was on active duty. I love the M9 even with its slide mounted decocker. The rail really updates that old 80's icon.
