Joe, it's not a $2000 gun. They sell for much less, as in under a $1000. They are very rare, but not in demand.

That was just James saying he doesn't want to sell it to me.

I don't blame him. I like rare guns myself and wouldn't want to sell it either.

I've never handled one, so I can't comment on build quality. They didn't sell for too much when they were new.

If it were hard chrome, you know you'd be all over it.

That is a very nice looking 1911, James.

I've never seen one, as far as I remember.

That is cool, especially when you consider it was built before that sort of thing was popular.

No offense meant at all, but what makes that a gun that's more than $400-500? I'm usually up on my 1911's, but I have never heard of that one. Looking at the posts above, what makes that a "$2000 1911"? Looks like a $400-500 1911 at best to me. Like I said, no offense meant, just don't see what the big deal is.

I'm sorry to year you're going through some hard times. Sometimes it's hard to put a positive spin on a situation, but try.

I am selling off about 60% of my collection also. I'm using it as starting inventory in a gunshop that I will open the doors on next week. I don't need to, but it will turn a nice store into an extraordinary store. It has been liberating. Having a core group of quality firearms, without the white noise to distract from them, actually feels pretty good.

That sounds cool, my friend.

Good luck with your store.

Thank you! The adventure begins.

Again though, my point was that eliminating some earthly posessions can give a bit of inner peace. My home is a slightly more stress free environment with less stuff in it. I hope that's the case with the OP.

Offense taken. Do not insult what you do not know and do not own.

It does not surprise me, usually when a guy has in sig line that he owns 10 glocks he isnt going to appreciate something like a 1911. Usually the statement is made "I could buy three glocks for the price of that!"

That makes sense. I used to own several cars and motorcycles. Getting rid of them was difficult at first, but made me happy in the long run.

James, I honestly would not sell the Shadow. Regardless what it's worth, its worth more than monetary value to you. Even if you decide to sell most or all of your others, keep that one.

I'm pretty much done buying 1911s for now. While its my favorite handgun platform, I realized that I was neglecting some of the most iconic handguns ever built. That's what I've been focused on of late. I have more than enough 1911s.

All else aside, that statement is pretty funny considering Joe has one of the finest collections of 1911s I've ever seen. He probably has well over $50,000 wrapped up in some of the best high end 1911s ever built.

I hear what you're saying though. I see that attitude quite a bit over in General Glocking.

Did this 3-4 years ago and I will have to agree, concentrated more on rifles and kept the handguns and especially 1911s I actually shoot.

Its nothing towards him, its a generalization that we see on the board frequently.

I can see what he is saying that it appears to not be much special, but sometimes being uncommon is enough.

You were referring to me. Maybe you have spent plenty of time on here, but I guess you just haven't paid much attention. Saying that I don't "appreciate something like a 1911", makes you look pretty silly. As for my Glock sig line, it's a Glock forum. I also have 1911Addicts.com in my sig line too. Maybe you didn't catch that. I have my SA guns listed in my sig line on XD Talk. I guess that makes me a Glock hater.
