I like that idea. I'm sure it has been discussed behind closed doors more than a few times.

Simple answer...depends on the states laws. Generally, after debts being paid off, it will go to the next of kin.....any spouse, children, parents, siblings etc. I think she had a daughter...just going from prior reports (memory).
According to the news reports, she took the initial lump sum. Additional media reports indicate she had less than $75k remaining. IIRC, the Estate tax doesn't kick in until $5.12 million; however, in 2013 it drops back down to $1 million.

Yeah she was a fraud and thief, but its a sad story and I feel bad for everyone involved. I'm sure she didn't have an easy life.

all i can say is good riddance. Winning the lottery and still feeling like you should still get government assistance is just ridiculous.

You can,t stop a crimnal from getting a gun or guns nor can you
stop a drug-addict from their drugs.
The war on drugs is a total waste of money and a major failure!

Welfare Lottery Mom Found Dead
We must impose more welfare laws to protect poor inner city moms from crack. It's for the moms

Ugly?
Dude, Darwin wasn't kidding. Bad things happen to people who make bad choices. She wasn't on welfare because she had a bad life, she was on welfare because she made a lifetime of bad choices. A large influx of cash just enabled nearly unlimited, and fatal, bad choices. That's not cruel or heartless, it's just true.

right on !! years ago here in Miami, police found cocaine that was too strong and was killing junkies, instead of keeping it quiet, they went all the way out in news papers, radio, TV, WARNING JUNKIES NOT TO USE IT.

Actually, it has already been done. During prohibition our government killed around 10,000 people by poisoning industrial alcohols bootleggers were using to make booze.
Look it up, pretty interesting.
