Letting a tax break expire, so we can balance the books? Whats the problem?
And how is this a religious issue?

The income tax doesn't pay a single cent into any government service. The entirety of it goes to pay the interest on the national debt, and it isn't enough to stop the debt clock. I'm not necessarily against raising taxes on the wealthy, but it is rediculous to think that it will balance the books. NOT EVEN CLOSE. Spending has to be cut. The government has a spending problem not a revenue problem.

Like it or not, taxes will go up. Taxes need to go up. In fact, general taxation needs to be returned to the level established in the first Reagan term. Spending will be cut. Spending for dod needs to be cut. It should be cut to the level that existed prior to our foray into iraq and afghanistan. In fact, the entire dod should be reduced to it's pre-9/11 status. The dod industrial complex can find something else to do with their resultant excess production capacity... maybe make something useful. Social Security spending is irrelevant. It does not contribute to the national debt. It funds itself. In the future, the ceiling should be eliminated and applied to all income regardless of source. It should be applied w/o breaks to all persons absolutely including corporate persons. Social spending should be reviewed and where possible waste, etc. should be eliminated. Tariffs on foreign goods should be raised to the point that no off-shore outsourced producer will have a off-shored outsourced competitive advantage over domestic producers. As much as possible fed., st. and local govt. should be required to adopt and follow a "buy American" policy. No local govt. should be allowed to give tax breaks to any retailer period. This would prevent wal-mart/amazon, etc. from destroying the local tax base of locally owned and operated businesses in local communities. It would value the local community over multinational corporate interest. Finally... speech should only apply to people... not corporate persons.

Taxes WILL go up, but they don't need to. Beyond your mere opinion... Why? Please be specific.
