1992 Glock 21
I may have a chance to put my hands on the pistol made in July/August 1992 (serial # ACU666).
Second generation G21 - little to no use.
My question is:
- is this gun safe to use?
I've heard about some kind of 1992 upgrade/re-call.
Any idea what that was all about?
Also - will the newer Glock magazines work in such pistol?
Thanks!

Here is most of the info you need.
http://www.thegunzone.com/glock/upgrade-faq.html
With your serial # you should already have the upgraded parts.
The only thing that would bother me is the slide modification they refer to on serial # previous to ALD. Contact Glock and they can tell you if it has been done to this particular gun.
Mags should fit and gun should be safe to fire, but reliability could be a problem without the slide upgrade.

Ok, thanks a lot.
I'm in Canada, so Glock may not have this gun on record anywhere.

I'll try to bargain a bit first, since the slide was recalled

Glock will fix it for free. The only cost is to get it to them. I don't know if you can send just the slide to Glock. Being in Canada may complicate the matter, however.
As I am a big fan of the Gen 2's I would buy it if the cost is even close to reasonable.

Looks original to me
From the picture it appears that pistol has NOT had the slide modification. (The extractor would appear slightly shorter and you would be able to see the slight angle on the ejection port). I've been told that extractors are no longer available for G21's that have not had the slide mod. I'm gonna guess that if you were to send that slide back to Glock they would just send you a new (non-serial number matching) slide as a replacement, instead of going to the trouble of machining and refinishing your original slide. You may want to inquire from Glock if they will return your original slide or just send a replacement if you decide to go with the Glock factory modification.
