Total newbie from IL
Just purchased my first gun 1 week ago (at 56 years old) and went shooting today. Bought a new Glock 17. I live about 25 miles from Chicago. I ran 100 rounds through it at an outside range in Ottawa Il. I actually hit the bulls eye (about 4" diameter) at 50 feet about 20 times. Not bad for an older guy with no experience with a gun.

I lived in Marseilles for a couple years back in the early 80s; worked in Ottawa for about a year.

Best wishes to you. I applaud you getting your permit in a non gun friendly state.

It's dark, and we're wearing sunglasses.
The 17 is a great gun. Welcome to the sport.
If you pull the trigger so slow and steady that you don't know when it will actually fire, good things will happen to the bullseye
