Found one in town today and picked it up on impulse. It's different for sure, but I'm not 100% on it. Time will tell.

After a little use, The blade shape is growing on me. I hated the idea of this knife until I handled it.

Dremel, needle files, and some 400 grit wet/dry paper. I never understood why the Dremel gets so much hate. People always say things like "that looks like it was done in a garage with a Dremel when something looks like ****. I have done a lot of good work in my garage with a Dremel.

FWIW regarding blade shape... if you listen to Mike Janich explain why he prefers the wharncliffe, it makes a lot of sense - not sure if I will do it justice but I'll give it a "stab" .

Knives with a belly are popular, whether it is a PM2 or the full belly of a ZT300. However, when throwing a slash, much of the belly is parallel to the target, which doesn't effectively use the energy of the motion. Compare the same arc of travel of a wharncliffe knife in a slashing motion; the front of the cutting edge and the tip holds the power of the motion, which would efficiently cut into the target. The MBC system has 3 primary targets, all of which only require a cut as shallow as 1"-2". A wharncliffe serves that purpose well.

I prefer this too but I go to school five days a week and there is 30.06 signs(no guns) on the parking lot entrances. I do carry several knives and have done quite a bit of training on how to use them if the need ever arises.

While there I'm limited to my knives and my 24oz. Ball peen hammer that rides in my bag.

It's primitive but better than nothing.

I agree with the sentiment... I prefer a firearm for SD but there are large portions of the day when I cannot have one, so I would rather have a knife than nothing.

There used to be a local Israeli guy that taught real basic KM and incorporated edged weapons into it. It was his own personal concoction and not extremely formal but I have confidence in my skillset. All gross motor skills and a basic understanding of human anatomy and physiology, none of the fancy Seagal stuff. I'd love to go to one of Ernie Emerson's classes or find someone local that teaches Janich's MBC. I just don't have the time for it right now.
I'm by no means an expert in the subject, but I think I know enough to get by for now.

I wish it had a flipper. Ball bearings would be icing on the cake. A cross between the Yo2 and Kershaw Tilt would be perfect.
