Fumigation issues
Anybody here work in the fumigation world?
I am having house and gargage fumigted for termites. Bagging, moving food no issue. My concern is over my 3 55 gallon water barrels I have stored in the garage. They are tightly sealed, but what should I do? Cover the tops with plastic and tape shut? I thought about draining and just moving them out, which would be the most positive way of protecting the water but what a pain.
Any ideas?

I answered you over on Frugal's.. But I think just protecting the barrel itself from the chemicals will do. Saran wrap or something. We have a GIANT roll she bought at Sam's, I bet I could wrap our whole house with it.

The material is non-soluble. It will not penetrate or enter food.
Here is the problem: the law says that if it is for human consumption it must be removed.
The same material (sulfuryl fluoride) has food tolerances, but it is a different label from the product used in your home (among other regulatory issues.)
Bottom line your water will be fine... But the licensee on the job may or may not allow it in the home and state and local regulators would deem that your water needs to be removed.

I did ask, the guy did not have a clue. He was more puzzled as to why I was storing water! And the company I am going with is ORKIN, so it's not just Joe's fumigation service.

I've sprayed for some wood boring critters...if you have everything in sealed containers, there's no issue.
Grab the chems at ACE or HD, & a 2 gallon sprayer, add water and go to town. Add the stake traps outside as well.

What you describe will do you no good when addressing drywood termites.
