Converting G23 to G19

I have a Gen 3 G23 (40). If I purchase this can I convert the 23 to a 19? Note this is a Gen 4 slide for sale. Thanks!
Jim

No. A Gen4 slide will not work on a Gen3 frame, the part of the slide that holds the muzzle end of the guide rod is wider on a Gen4 slide than the corresponding cut-out on a Gen1,2,3 frame.
(with the G26,27,29,30,33,39 a Gen4 slide will work on a Gen3 frame and vice versa)

You would need a Gen3 G19 upper including slide, barrel, and slide internal parts. You'd also need to get a Gen3 9mm trigger housing with ejector to replace the .40 ejector in your G23 frame. As well you'd obviously need 9mm magazines.

You could get an aftermarket .40-9mm conversion barrel with 9mm magazines. You'd be able to simply drop that barrel into your G23 slide and start shooting 9mm, you wouldn't need to change any other parts. But it wouldn't be as reliable as a factory G19, you may experience the occasional failure.

Okay. Thank you. If both were Gen 3 would it work? Any other way to do this? I think you can mail your pistol to Bar-Sto and they will fit a barrel to it. Anyone with experience doing this? I want this for EDC so need to do it right.

Yes it would work, you'd need the Gen3 G19 slide with internal parts, barrel, Gen3 9mm trigger housing with ejector, and G19 magazines. For the cost of that you might as well just buy a G19.

A .40-9mm conversion barrel would not be as reliable as a G19.

A complete G19 upper assembly can be had for $250-275

I disagree about the ejector - the 40 ejector works universally for 9 or 40, the 9mm ejector does not.
