Any suggestions? (holster problem)
I carry a gen 3 glock 27 in a galco king tuk. The problem I recently had was I was eating at a restaurant that had very uncomfortable chairs so I was moving around a lot trying to get comfortable. I didn't realize until I got home and went to take off my holster that during the moving around the mag release had been pressed and my mag was only being held in place by my tucked in undershirt. I really like the iwb set up and love my king tuk but does anyone have any holster mod suggestions or general suggestions to prevent this? I do carry a spare mag already but I would like to try and prevent this problem from happening in the first place.
BTW: I'm a southpaw.

I would be compelled to try a different holster.

Do you know of any hybrid iwb that covers the mag release?

Hmmm.... I carry a G27 Gen-3 in a Supertuck or a Maxtuck. I'm right-handed and carrying at about 4:00. My mag release is on the inside, facing the leather.
So, while I'm not familiar with the Kingtuk, I'm having a hard time picturing how your mag got released.

Fellow southpaw here, G26 in a Crossbreed. I suppose you can't rule an accidental mag release out 100%, neither can right handers carrying IWB if you push the left side of the gun into the leather (or your body) hard enough.
Is your mag release just above your belt line? Wearing a thick, stiff sturdy gun belt with the mag release just above it, actually makes it pretty hard to push in the mag release. (the thick belt will contact the seat, not your mag release)
If you ride deep, (mag release below the belt line) you increase the chance of an accidental release. And don't use an extended release, of course.

Had that problem with an extended release. Got rid of the extended release, got rid of the problem.

I have the holster clips all the way down to make the holster ride as high above the belt as possible. I feel when its any lower it makes it hard to grip and draw.

How about you just move the mag release to the other side of the pistol. I'm a southpaw also and I just moved the release to the other side.

The OP has a gen 3. Also, a release turned towards the body can also be inadvertently pushed.

It's far less likely with the release facing your body. As a matter of fact, I have carried for more than 20 years and it has never happened to me.
Best advice is to get a gun that is lefty friendly. Glock makes them and so do a lot of other manufacturers.

By and large, southpaws have been getting by just fine with the previous 3 generations of Glocks.

That is certainly true but in my opinion controls that can disable a gun or render it in an unsafe condition should not be exposed to the general knocks of everyday life.

I have a suggestion:
Buy a HK P2000sk in .40S&W with the LEM trigger.
Mag release issue solved.

I'm right-handed, but carry and shoot left or right. I carry a Glock in my right-handed King Tuk. Due to the fact that the mag release is on the left side of the pistol, (Gen2 or Gen2.5 Glocks for me,) when I carry in the King Tuk it's against me. When one carries Southpaw it it's hanging out in the breeze.
I looked at all of my holsters, right and left-handed, none of them cover the mag release. You'd probably have to have a holster custom made to cover the button; maybe a Kydex holster that covers the button, but is scooped out so it doesn't ride on the button. I would think leather would be too flexible and bump the button if you bumped the holster.

I was having the same problem with a SuperTuck and my M&P9c. I decided to give it the combat cut so I could get a better and quicker grip. I just made sure to trim the leather around the mag release. I much prefer this set up over how it came from the factory.

Not a hybrid, but have you looked at the Comp-Tac Infidel?

I'm right handed and have had a mag get released perhaps once every two or three years. But I'm a pretty physical guy who does a lot of heavy lifting and work.
So I've formed a habit of occasionally checking that the mag is still seated, especially if I've recently done something real strenuous. It can happen especially, if you lead an active life.

I'm lefthanded and have yet to have this problem. I just don't mash my gun up against things. I use my elbow against my side when sitting.
