Why do people get two of the same model glocks?
Just curious as to why do some people get two of the same model glocks? Example, a buddy of mine got two G17. I can see if one is compensated and the other is not, but come on, two of the exact same thing?

You've never heard of the "spare" concept?
I have five 17s.
Even if I couldn't get parts or service, I can have a functional Glock 17 for the rest of my life as it sits now.
Two or three can break down or wear out, I can lose one or two, I can have one confiscated by police should I ever have to use one in self defense, and so on.
Why would two be hard to understand?
Denis

One can be none. Two can be one.
Or, one is none, two is one.

I only have one duplicate. Glock 35. One is for competition and the other for carry. Why not???

Never hurts to have an alternative/option. Even better if that alternative/option matches the one that you just lost/broke.

Because they have the means to. Because they can. Who cares what others do if it does no harm to the world, society, or yourself?

My only double is two 19's, but I'd have three 19's, 17's, and 23's, if I had the $'s

Why do people worry enough about what others do to make a thread about it? Why have I responded?!!

If you're going to spend $500 on an out-of-state match a few times a year, it makes sense to have a real back-up pistol.
Having a double also makes it easier to compare sights, springs, loads, etc.

If you have found something that works for you, why buy something different that may not work as well?
I went through my; I have to have the latest, newest, shiniest, greatest phase in my 20s. I'm now in my mid fifties. I want two things out of my firearms; I want to enjoy shooting them, I want them to be good tools. The focus is going to be on the good tool. I don't and never will be a hand gun hunter. I probably shoot more than most people on the board, about 5,000 rounds a year, I'm probably not a better shot than most. I have to practice, my eyes are going bad, I've done things in my youth that have caught up to my body in middle age. I don't have unlimited funds for shooting so I focus on SD handguns because for almost everyone the gun you start with is going to be the gun you survive with or the gun you die with. That gun is likely to be a subcompact and for me it is going to be a G26. If my carry goes down for some reason I want to have another just like it sitting there to take its place. I own four pistols, 3 of them are Glock G26s and the other is a Glock 30.
What I don't understand is spending more time and ammo shooting something besides your carry. If you are carrying a pocket gun you should be shooting your pocket gun. If you train you should be training with your carry.

The only guns I buy more than one of ate collectables and even then, the configurations are different.
There's no way I'd buy two of the same Glock.
