The best handgun is the one that you can shoot the must accurate and the biggest caliber at that. For me that beretta, would not be the best handgun.
Also hand guns are way underpowered unless your shooting a magnum caliber for bear, unless it's a small FL black bear. One would be a fool to think a hand gun is ideal for bear and if I was going into a place of a remote chance of a bear attacking me or a high probability of a bear attacking, I would not be holding a jetfire 25acp or any handgun.

Lol.
That's been around a few times but its still funny. In Alaska we have two versions of that. One is that handguns are to shoot your buddy so you can escape. The other is that handguns are to shoot yourself so you don't feel the bear eating you.

Reminds me of the beer commercial where the guy give the Bud Light to his buddy and runs.

My Ruger 44 mag Super Red Hawk is the largest handgun I can shoot and maintain control.

I'd say S&W 329PD, a 629 Mountain Gun in 44 Mag, or a Ruger .454 Casull Alaskan. I'd probably chose the 329PD or the .454 Casull.
