"You're not going to shoot him, are you?!"
So this devastatingly handsome patrol officer I know (not me of course) goes to a call of a protective order violation. Estranged hubby is coming over to kill wifey. Wifey lives on a 9-hole golf course in her back yard. She sees hubby coming. Their son tips her off of dad's intentions. She smartly drives away, and meets the devastatingly handsome patrol cop on the other side of the golf course. Hubby is on foot and is walking straight toward wife and patrol cop, but a few hundred yards away.
"Did he threaten to kill you?"
"Yes. He's supposed to have a gun."
Handsome pulls out patrol rifle to cover guy who is still walking toward them with a purpose.
"You're not going to shoot him are you?"
That question surprised the devastatingly handsome patrol officer. What did she think the cops were there to do? Negotiate with him to give her up so he could do whatever he wanted? Should the cops just leave so only she gets hurt?
Guy threw something into a large pond that was deemed by higher ups as unlikely to be recovered. Backup arrives. Hubby - who was almost blind drunk - was taken into custody without much incident.
The patrol cop looked good doing this, and that's what's important. But some people's lack of grasp on the reality of what we have to do is shocking.

Did you..er, the officer have his hat on? What were her teeth like? Did she have a Bravia? Did she steal your iPad? Could it have been a KaBar that hubby threw into the pond? So many unanswered questions about this contact!
