Those are original grips? I thought way back when wood was the grip of the day! If they are original, not that I'm doubting you, you can put on either the wood grips from a security six, or one of the Hogue offerings for a smaller, thinner grip, if that would suite your needs better. Personally, I would very much like to see Ruger re-introduce the Security, Service, Speed revolvers again. IMHO that is all the bigger a 357 magnum has to be, and I've owned two GP-100's!

Sweet! Mine is a favorite, though my wife likes it too, and it has become a house gun, kept where we both know where to find it, at a logical place to retreat in the event of an intrusion. Ours is not a snubbie, though, as it has a 4" barrel.

I still have my Speed Six I bought decades ago. It has always been reliable. Now, it is a bit large to conceal. In the past, it was my little gun, but I wore a suit. I often used a snug belt holster or a shoulder rig. I am sure it printed a lot, but I did not really worry about it back then. It has a three inch barrel.

I have a 2.75" gun with worn bluing. I added a bobbed hammer, did a trigger job and painted the front sight. I also have tried several grips and finally went with a Tyler T-grip added to the factory wooden grips.

As others have said, it's pretty heavy but does feel good in hand.

Mine is blued. These aren't the original grips but I have them in the box. I bought this revolver in March of 1983.

I did get an action job on this and it is the smoothest shooting double-action I've shot.

My carry gun is a Glock but this is the gun my wife prefers. She shoots it well enough that I don't give her much crap!

My Police Service Six was smooth right out of the box. It is not a snubby anymore as I had Ruger put a 4 in. barrel on it. I have read on GT that some people think they don't have as nice a trigger as S&W's. You can't prove it with mine.

I got a bobbed hammer also for a blued but the hammer wouldnt fit!! ugh. I have the wood grips and the tyler also that makes for a great grip.

I wish Ruger had made them with a more rounded and concealable grip frame like the S&W model 19/66 with a 2 &1/2 in. barrel. The 2 & 3/4 in. barrel on the Ruger allowed for the full length ejector rod with no loss of concealability.

I wish Ruger still built the Six series revolvers.

I have a Service Six that I like better than my GP100.

The wife's 9mm. Half moon clips make for a fast reload and it throws 147 gr. black talons astonishingly well.

The kids like shooting it too!
