Sure. Barrels are expensive since the piston and gas chambers are integral.

Nice looking shotgun. I don't like the BIG BLADE front sight on the 18 inch, standard stock version. Looks out of place or even like it could catch on something when you could least afford it.

Last year when I was looking for someone to trade a 21 inch barrel for my 24 inch barrel on my Benelli M1S90, I thought about trading it for one of the 22 inch VM's. I had an offer to swap out and really thought about it for a couple days, but ended up keeping my M1Super 90 and finally traded and got a 21 inch VR barrel for it.

Now that the VersaTube is out, there are several folks getting 26" guns, removing the stock tube and using the VersaTube for 3Gun/Tactical and then putting the stock tube back on for bird hunting.

The first run sold out, but there should be more next month. Remington liked it enough that rumor is they are going to put a VersaTube style magazine on a new model due out later this year.

Just got word that the Versa-Max 3Gun is pretty close. The product engineers will have it at the RockCastle Pro-Am end of the month. Ready to roll out of the box!

I was told R12 in September by one of the LEO sales reps at the Rem factory - I'm assuming this is what you mean when you say three gun ...?

Actually, the Beretta 1301 Comp is a much nicer set-up ...

The 3Gun version is not the R12, which is the LE/Mil version.

Glad you like the Beretta, but how do you know it is better when you have not even seen or handled the new VM 3G?

I've had the Versamax Tac, nice but - the gas system (Blink gas system, same as the Bennelli) more efficient and the shotty is lighter ...

More efficient, really? No thanks, I'll take the VM gas system anyday over anything with a polymeric wiper or seal. The VM system is just an improvement of the Benelli M4 gas system which is not only more "efficient" but more reliable. Benelli has multiple recoil systems BTW.

Not saying the 1301 is bad or anything, it is a great shotgun. But if we are going to discuss the platforms in comparison, you have to be honest about what the systems really are. The only actual test I saw still had the SLP cycling just a hair faster than the 1301...

No problem with opinion...it is the mis-stating of facts that I was addressing. I've been updating a thread on this platform and you come interject how the shotgun you like is better...you are here to argue and that is exactly what you did. Again, just be honest about it.

Im hardly ever on here Bud, I am an FFL and as such have had just about every shotgun you can think of in my possesion at one time or another.

I have demoed all of them im not making up anything stating my opinion after shooting all... I suspect you've never laid eyes on a 1301 much less fired one. Im done talking to people who are opinionated such as yourself, best of luck with whatever you spend your money on its your choice.

So you only want to talk to people with no opinion or the exact same opinion as yours on a given subject? Well that's exciting..........

For a guy that doesn't want to talk to people unless they share your opinion, you sure are chatty.

And your post indicates that you think my reply was from MarkCO, which it wasn't. I've not posted in this thread for about 11 months.

I have a Versamax Zombie Tactical and a Beretta 1301 Comp w/ +3 mag extension I like the Beretta a tad more because of the stock (stock has some real nice checkering on the fore grip and in the pistol grip section makes for a very nice firm hold) and the weight (lighter than my Rem) plus it's a hair faster on emptying than the Rem. Keeping both because i like them both to much to part with.

Sorry for the late report but this thread had slipped my mind, which does not have much room in it to start with.

They brought the Vesa Max into the class for show and tell. I questioned the guy and stated I did not have confidence that the weapon would cycle in the situations I described. He said he would arrange for me to shoot one. So, on Thursday we always go to the Ilion Gun Club and while there he took me to a side range with a Versa Max. I had a 25rd box of light target loads. I fired all 25 from everything but a solid shoulder. One handed, straight out in front of me, over my head and sevearl other loose grip positions. The weapon cycled every time. Yep, low power skeet loads and this thing worked every time.

We were also the first class to be allowed in the new Remington Defence area and I saw the R12. As of now it is Gov restricted but I predict it will replace the useless 11-87P in the Law Enfocement line up very soon. I can't wait to get my hands on one and put a few thousand rounds through it. That will tell.

I just sold my 1100 Tac last week. I looked at a VersaMax Tac yesterday. I also looked at a M2 and a M4 as well. All of them felt good. Now I will have to decide on which one, or wait till the R12 would come out. Ron

The R12 has been out for over a year. Just only sold to Mil right now, but my sources tell me the release to sell to LE is very soon. I have onyl shot the 18" R12, but it was just as reliable as my VM tactical.

The VersaMax competition model will be catalogged for 2014. It takes a Tactical and modifies it based on input to Remington from yours truly. Express sight in the rib, one piece tube with a carbon fiber shroud, improved follower that does not need to be welded up, opened up loading port. $1699 retail, probably about $1500 street. Will be the only catalogged shotgun ready to shoot 3Gun out of the box.

Well, the VM Competition is supposed to be shipping this week. Rumor is that a HD version with a shorter barrel is in the works, but I did not hear that from Remington.

There are some guys getting their VM barrels cut down to 18.5" and using them in a tactical role as well.

I have tried every way and anyone I know and some who I don't and I can't get a barrel for the R-12. Put that barrel on any Versa Max, change the stock to a SF IV-S and you got the R-12.

I can also tell you that yes, it will be on the LE line up very soon and that came from the horses mouth. The same horse that could not get me an R-12 barrel but he can't even get one, unless of course they don't watch him really close when he's leaving the Remington Defense floor . No, he is 100% Remington and trust worthy so he will wait like the rest of us.

So, I wait and wait. Once they are out I will get one and put hundreds of rounds through it and then maybe, I will condsider fighting with one.
