Very, very raw. Here was a good guy who not only served his community as a cop but also as a pastor.

Damn shame and utterly tragic.

This is the third Philadelphia PO killed off duty (two were on their way home from work) in the last few weeks.

RIP officer.

I have a take home car and worry about leaving it parked at the house. I really hate to think off-duty officers are being targeted.

If that's the case, it sounds like someones specifically assassinating cops.

RIP Brother.

Random.

The first was a drunk driver going southbound in the northbound lanes of I95 struck the officer on his motorcycle. Second was the new BF of the officer's ex running him down on his bike.

The Fox news article kind of reads like this one might have been an assassination.

RIP

Off Duty Philadelphia Officer Shooting

This is a tragedy, but it could possibly have been avoided if the officer had acted decisively once he became aware that he was being followed by two men along a deserted street in the early morning. He apparently allowed these guys to approach him closely and announce an intent to rob him before drawing his off duty weapon. He was shot three times before he was able to use his gun. The officer was in civilian clothes and appeared to be an ordinary middle age man who was an easy target for robbery. Had the officer acted, instead of reacting to the threat, and sought cover while drawing his weapon and announcing that he was a police officer, there is a good chance these two mutts would have terminated their actions and fled the scene without engaging the officer. With almost 20 years on the job I am surprised at the way the officer responded to this threat.

Did you get that info from watching that video? I could barely see anything. I wish I had your ability to be able to tell what happened and your obviously highly-tuned ability to foresee the outcome if something different had happened.

What did he know vs what he suspected? What decisive actions should he have taken once he "knew he was being followed?" How do you know he put it together as opposed to just suspected?

Tell us exactly what happened out of frame.

Philly news indicates the cops have hooked a suspect in the officer Walker killing at the Bartram vil apts in so philly about 20 mins ago...The raal irony of this is, the punks prob. officer asked that a bench warrant be issued. the officer was killed 3 days later. THE WARRANT WAS NEVER ISSUED...
